Wednesday is fast approaching and my husbands entry into hospital to begin his roller coaster of a ride of a stem cell transplant. It was a low week last week, lots of tears were shed and fears declared but I am happy to report that my man is now in full control of his coaster and ready to begin this next part of his ride. The infusion of the drugs to get rid of his stem cells begin Thursday morning and continue through till 27th October when his brand new donor cells are administered. There will...
Its been such a busy couple of weeks, trying ( being the operative word) to go back to work and failing miserably. I was in a few days and then have been off again for the last couple of weeks.
Whilst i was at work we held our Mac coffee morning and raised about £350 we had the local mayor with her big shiney necklace lol help us out and she even stood outside the office beckoning people in she even bought some raffle tickets. We were lucky enough to have several prizes donated by local business...
Goodness me for a start i do know how to spell know see, just hit the wrong key oops. Well, i don't usually write blogs just read and post on others but felt i needed to today.
Quick recap for those who don't know me. I'm a year post radiotherapy, surgery and chemo with bowel cancer and have a permanent stoma in the process. This community has helped me no end through the whole process especially now when the waiting game and unsure feelings lurk in the background.
Getting on with...
Oh no! I wake up crying and really hate myself for doing this because I never seem to be able to lift my mood when I do. So I lay there wallowing in the unfairness of it all and the dog licks away my tears. I would like to think it's because he knows I am miserable and upset but the reality is the poor little thing is absolutely busting for a pee and probably a poo and I realise I must get my fat ass into the shower and get on with the day.
Shower done, hair dried, throw the clothes on and off...
16th Oct - I'm sat in my apartment packing up my things to fly home tommorrow to care for my mother who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. To say I'm scared is an underestimation. She is in denial at the moment and I guess I am too. I dont think the reality of it will hit me until I get home. Even starting to write this blog is hard...our whole lives have been turned upside down in the last week and I dont see how things will get better. Mum is so young, I never imagined that I would need to care...
...I start baking the fruit cakes for Christmas. (I bake and decorate celebration cakes).
Got two in the oven this morning and just washed the fruit and soaked with brandy to make two more tomorrow. Normally I would be dancing around my kitchen with joy as I love the smells created by baking rich fruit cake but today I feel a little sad because a) I don't know if Gordy will still be with us at Christmas and b) I think the melancholy emotions of this time of year are getting to me.
October through...
Doctor Morrell came round today to explain to me about the Just-in-case (JIC) medicine box and see Mo as he has to see her so there are no complications with the death certificate.Don't want to go there, but now it is something everyone who knows Mo and I must face.I was quite glad it was Dr Morrell and not Dr Munro who came up,Mo doesn't like Dr Munro luckily she was on holiday. This is the same doctor who Mo saw first after her diagnosis and mentioned to me about the D.N.R rule and made Mo sign a...
To date this is one if not the hardest blog to write, where do I start?.We have had to increase Mo's steroid dosage from 12mg to 16mg per day.Unfortunately the cancer seems to be spreading far quicker than the steroids are working,if they are. This isn't normally what happens the progression of Mo's cancer and the subsequent increase in steroids is a lot quicker (less than 6 weeks)than us and anyone, including Kath the Macmillan nurse has ever seen. This obviously is a major concern for all of us,technically...
I did try to update earlier but I've no idea what happened to my post. I'm a bit tired to go through it all again, so will just give a synopsis.
Its now 15th October, 2011 and I've had a great year. Completed 2 level 3 diplomas and have just started college again doing a full time beauty course. Had every bit of me waxed during practise.....ouch! but having a really great time and enjoying it. My greatest achievment to date was this summer when I climbed up and down Mount Snowdon. It...
Don't post very often but thought I would share 2 years today was when I had my last of 8 R-Chop chemo and the roller coaster ride has continued but the noise reduces with time, as many of you know. So 2 years on and I am still a good stat and now targeting the 5 yr mark. So everyone going through treatment the is a light at the end of the tunnel and its shining bright for me.
It looks like I have been one of the few who have long term damage from the chemo and only now am I starting to get...
