Well, I thought I ought to do a blog to update things as last we left it; I was waiting to do a fart, or poo or some such in hospital. That was 4 weeks ago, and I have been known to write 4 pages on an afternoon’s worth of stuff so, settle down with a drink and cake or just skip to the end and say ooh ahh mmm x. especially if you read warped etc, you’ll know most of this already, but I wanted to record it for me over here really.
I dutifully farted and after pacing the ward and eating...
Exercise helped me to cope with chemotherapy
I joined the gym in August 2009. I had previously been a member of gyms but found it very hard to stay focussed and motivated, and would find myself dropping out after a year. I wasn’t sure that this time round would be any different. I work full-time as a nurse, so started by going 3 times a week before or after a shift. Workouts would normally be 45 minutes before I would get bored and head for the door.
Two years on, I have run a half marathon...
Dear Dad,
Its been nearly seven months since they found the tumour. I remember the phonecall like it was two minutes ago. You tried so hard to be brave and strong as you told me that 'you'd be one of those strong people who gets through this and beats it'
I tried so hard not to cry as I could hear you choking back tears through the phone. I wanted to cry for you. You sounded so scared but you were still being my dad, that brave man that always tells me everythings gonna be ok to try...
I'm a registered care home manager for the elderly. I have 3 children & 3 Grandchildren and I adore them! I live with my partner (my youngest daughter and her partner also live with us) in Worcestershire.
I had a biopsy for a lump in my uterus in January 2011. I had a Fibroid Embolism in March 2011 which didn't work. They later decided to do a hysterectomy including cervix in November.
Since then it’s all been downhill!! I've gone from being a generally fit and healthy person, to having...
...well let's face it, it couldn't be any worse than yesterday could it? I was thankful to wake up without that 'shock' feeling or just overwhelming darkness. I woke feeling as near to 'normal' as I have been for a long, long time. There have been moments throughout the day when the tears have welled....but for the most part I have managed to blink them away. I'm not seeking to deny my grief but in the moments when I am able to control it then I prefer to do so - as there are...
I fell into this alternative universe 4 weeks ago when the Dr said, "Yes you have a tumour in your sigmoid colon, you have Bowel cancer"
My first priority was my wife, sitting patiently in the waiting room, how was I going to tell her, the world had suddenly taken on a very surreal feel to it. The look on my face must have spoken volumes but gripping my hand tightly she took a deep breath and together we commenced this nightmare journey.
The following 3 days brought numbness, disbelief...
Hello,
My name is Claire and I have never blogged about my cancer experience before...
I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July 2009, a few months after my 30th birthday and well, as anyone who has been through this will know, it was a shock (to put it mildly!). Since then, I have had 4 surgeries (3 of which were debulking) and I am currently having my third round of chemo (in my case each round consists of 6 cycles of chemo lasting 3 weeks each).
In 2010 my consultants told me the cancer was...
April 2012 - Results Round 2
I've had the results through from the hospital, no metastasis, and the surrounding tissues that were removed from my eye were not infected so I'm in the clear. Just back for a check up in four months and periodically after that I assume.
I've been very lucky!
I hope this helps anyone else who is awaiting results. Unfortunately I've found the internet is filled with too many negative stories and statistics, and it doesn't always end that way. Sometimes fortunately...
This is a post to let everyone know that the information on this page is not true.
I do not have cancer, I made it all up and there are no words to describe how low my actions are.
I have been to the Police and I will be getting help.
Even though sorry offers little for my actions, it is heartfelt.
I forgot to add Grandma knows about her cancer. Dad had to tell her. Next week she is being moved to the best chest/lung clinic in Wales. She won't or can't talk about it yet, we understand that. We love and respect her too much to force her to talk about it yet
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
