    confused

Well, it's nearly that 3 month check up time again.  Why is it that one day you feel on top of the world, with nothing going wrong. full of the joy of spring, and the next day you have a pain and the reality comes crashing in again?  Monday I was out shopping for new clothes for the summer, had my wedding ring made bigger (a job I have been putting of as 'not worth it if I'm not going to be around for long), booked my appointments and felt fit and healthy and looking forward to a long summer of...

    Today is a new day

Well here we are at the start of a new day and am trying to look for all the good things.

Yesterday evening we came home from husband's first radiotherapy session to find a beautiful miniature rose plant on the doorstep with a card from the folks who live across the road to say they were thinking of us both.

On Sunday, we finally got to have the Big Tea Party we'd planned for David's birthday in February but had to postpone. It was touch and go whether David could make it to this party as he...

    A much more positive day!

Today has been a much better day. Very little tears and a get things done attitude. I eventually went out and bought new curtain poles for my front room after they fell down in February oops! It will be nice not having the room look bare and feel cold without them. I bought some more presents for my daughters birthday and started to sort some of my craft stuff ready for a little craft room. Never realised I had so much stuff that has never been used so might have to have a good clear out. I have...

    Biopsy

Had my biopsy yesterday (18th Apr 12) I have to admit, I was scared as I didn't know quite what to expect. They put in the anaeshtetic (I can never spell that bloody word!) and away they went. I watched it on the screen as it was happeneing. I can't say that it wasn't painful, because it was...but I can say that it wasn't as painful as I was expecting it to be!

They did two biopsies and got (I hope) what they needed, gave me a leaflet and sent me home.

I tried to ask the doctor...

  • WHAT A SHOCKER

Well what can I say?  My husband and I were going through life as happy as can be and we now find that John has bowel cancer with secondaries in his liver.  This all started as he finally went to the doctors (after much nagging) about 8 weeks ago, The TV advert was what actually made him go. There he is sitting in the waiting room looking at the very attractive full wall display about bowel cancer and when he gets in to see the doctor he explains his symptons and tells the doctor he has bowel cancer...

    April is the cruellest month

Have tried to write this several times.

April - one minute warm sunshine, glad to leave winter behind then driving cold sleet, grey clouds and yuk.

One minute we were celebrating the results of my husband's scan half-way through chemo, then Bam. Take that, you silly humans! Thought you'd escaped, didn't you. You don't get away from me so easily. Can't even begin to explain what's happened over the past couple of weeks. I'll just say that the end of chemo scan wasn't great & husband (my hero, my...

    Keeping sane!

Another steroid fuelled evening.... yes it is 2:30am... ridiculous! I will definitely be sleeping for 3 days once the steroids wear off! Apparently some people have no problems with steroids and feel no side effects, I am clearly not one of them.... and to be honest, I’ve yet to meet someone who tells me the steroids have no effect on them whatsoever, but I’m sure that lucky person is out there having a fantastic night’s sleep ;-)

For the rest of us who get to stay up and feel...

  • The page in the book I never wanted to read.....
    A strange old day!
My morning started off pretty much the same as it has for the past week. I wake about 6.30 thinking s*** it isn't a dream and it's still very real. I have cancer. What a nasty thing to even exist in the world. A quick google of any aches and pains I have, quick check of this site and then the email in the hope of that email telling me I've won big on the lottery. Can pay for all this to be done swiftly and receive the best treatment available. Kids dressed and off to school. I can feel...
