Well, hello everyone, have just re-found how to do this! Anyway, hope you are all as well as you can be and enjoying the Olympics. As some of you may know I have been waiting for a reconstruction (DIEP) since Feb. 2011 - it was cancelled 3 times due to the long waiting lists and immediate recons. being done. I had two pre-op assessments and the final pre-op I mentioned I had started to get chest pains and was sure this was down to anxiety. So my surgery was cancelled a fourth time on the spot and...
Well today was a baking day!

I am also making mums birthday cake, its her 59th birthday on Sunday, we are going out for a meal so will present it to her there, it is a lemon giant cupcake, will have vanilla icing and sprinkles on it, do like baking, next on my agenda is rosemary and sea salt foccacia.

I am just about to start cycle 3 of my first course of chemo. However I went into AF just after the second cycle. My chemo is irinotecan with fluorouracil (5FU) and folinic acid (FOLFIRI). This is given in course of 12 cycles of 2 weeks. I am also on the monoclonal antibody cetuximab.
I am worried that the AF will stop my chemo. Is there anybody else out here who has had AF whilst on chemo who can share their experiences?

Hello, I'm sorry to hear about your mother and hope this is of some help.
Tarceva (erlotinib) has become much more commonly used over the last few years and the way it is being used is always under review. It's difficult for me to be specific to each case...
So, we trot along for our CT scan, and by the time we get home are told go to your local hospital, you have a clot in your leg! No signs, no symptoms, perfectly healthy, working, usable legs for the first time since all the swollen leg troubles back at cycle 2.

Hi, I am new to this blog so forgive me for my question. My mother-in-law has just been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. It has been a huge shock to everyone but my wife is having difficulty in dealing with the shock. I feel helpless and have tried to ease her mind. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how best i can help her deal with the issues etc.
Had a dream before I woke up properly this morning that I was on holiday somewhere with John. Long story short, a stranger handed me a huge wad of money after I'd helped her pay for something at a market stall. I wish!
The treatments finished apart from some reconstruction and am going through hormone therapy. thought all the boxes were ticked and life would start. always saw my glass full if not overflowing. the last two weeks there are dregs in the bottom . usually like lots of people and company . now prefer to hide away or just walk with my dog. clam up and put my mask on . will ever get back to normal.
