    Attacks, one, two and three

    (July 10, 2012)

    How’s life?

    Full of attacks.

Let’s start with the one with the smallest cause..which had the most effect.

Friday night stomach bug… very nasty. I’m not often ill… but this was a doozy. I spent the night wandering porcelein potty in arms between bedroom and bathroom. (the potty was to be sick in…. i miss the cool warmth of a plastic familiar smelling sick bowl i can go to sleep hugging… in childhood it was yellowish.. i should buy a new comfort bowl)....

    Background

I've known I have a non-Hodgkins lymphoma for a couple of months... I guess ordinarily thats when I would have started writing a 'cancer blog' but luckily I've been writing a blog for the last three years (initiated by my partner deciding to gender re-assign and having MtoF surgery last year)...

The blog was just running out of steam writing about gender and the turmoil and headfuckery it brought to our lives when I started getting ill with suspected gall stones back in July 2012...

The start of the nightmare journey

    2012

I have always thought that Christmas updates had little use from our point of view.  Most years are similar, we work, we rest, we go on holiday (sometimes to exciting places), our health is sometimes a problem, but we get by.  Who wants to know about our side of things when we are all having similar experiences?

This year has been somewhat different to all the “normal” years of our life.  It all makes depressing reading so read no more if you do not want to hear about our year...

    The long Wait

I don't know how I am going to cope tonight.  When I had my other cancer things seemed to happen very quickly but not this time.  I was told on the 14 of November that I had a Liver lesion and I have still not been told what cancer it is.  They have mucked about with PET scans and eventually took a biopsy 10 days ago and although I realise it is Christmas and New Year nobody has been intouch not even the Macmillan Nurses.  I phoned today to ask if they had had any results, they have been told verbally...

    It's out part2
They all know, mum& dad were quietly worried, close friends cried &we sit in stunned silence, sometimes talking. Sometimes holding each other as one or other of us weeps, swinging between desperate worry &optimism & knowing how lucky we are to have each other.

  • Life can be cruel.
Every cloud has a silver lining.......

So it has been a while since I posted, that is because my Wife was sent home from the hospital and with Christmas and work I have not had a spare minute. A lot to catch up on.

I am going to refer to my wife as Katie(her pets name). There is a reason for this, as I dont want people who read this to put two and two together, this is a personal thing for me to vent and sometimes hopefully inspire.

Since I last posted a lot has happened and my head is still spinning or is it just numb from everything...

  • Triple Negative grade 3 Breast Cancer - my journey
21st December - week 3 and chemo number 2 under my belt, yay me!!!
I have rested completely over the last couple of days and thankfully my blood count had gone up this morning when I had a blood test. I was so nervous about having a cannular put in, but the PICC line specialist that saw me on Monday, came and did it herself and although I found it stressful, it was ok and I didn't faint! My breast clinic nurse had arranged for an alternative therapist to come and see me, so I must have looked like a right lady muck, with the specialist there doing my cannular and...

  • I need soneone and some advice
    scared

I'm 19, married with 2 kids, Im facing a real worry.. Thats putting a bigger strain on my relationship than there already is. I was getting a few weird/suspicious things, I went to the hospital and they said if I haven't got an infection. Then they strongly think I have ovarian cancer. I found out I do not have an infection and I'm going to have to have a normal ultrasound and a camera through my belly button (while I'm put to sleep) IM so worried and scared but my husband doesnt seem to care/understand...

  • Dad's Bowel Cancer Story
    The Beginning

My Dad has been feeling "not right" for a while, we reckon since about February / March 2012. Noticibly he has not really fancied eating chocolate which for my dad is a big thing as he lives on chocolate and would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.

Around May he had blood in his stools and went to the GP, she prescribed some medicine and sent him for a test. We thought this was the camera up the bum, but apparently it wasn't. My Dad not being one for hospitals / doctors etc...

  • Surviving Prostate Cancer and Chemo
    The 3-monthly follow-up

It's nearly 3 months since my Chemotherapy was suddenly stopped, because it was affecting my Finger, and Toenails badly. My PSA reading at that time was 7.5 - down from 69.7 when the Chemo was started.
This afternoon (17/12/12) I went for my 3-monthly "follow-up" at the Cancer Clinic. The interview was fairly brief, because the "bottom line" was very positive. My reading was now 4.4 - down from 7.5.
What I was not aware of before, was that the Prednisolone Steroid...
