i was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and had total masectomy and clearance on left side. The local anaesthetic wore off after about 8 hours as I'd been warned to expect and I woke often last night feeling pain. This morning I've remembered I was advised not to be shy about taking painkillers so I'll see if paracetamol or ibuprofen will help.
The wound seems swollen but it's not bleeding, only weeping a bit. I'll get some soft gauze stuff from the chemist similar to what the hospital used on top of the wound They said I could use a sanitary towel if I want to but...
So the past 3 injections of interferon have gone super well! I'm actually starting to think I might be able to do the full year of them. I haven't had any fever or chills lately (although still taking tylenol as a precaution) and my back pain has lessened immensely! I'm still pretty tired but I'll take that over fever and chills any day! Panic attacks still come and go but I'm not sure if that's from the drug or just this whole ordeal. Either way, I've been feeling much better...

Well, the deed has been done and I am home again.
Most of the hospital time was spent waiting, including an extra hour when I was bumped in favour of an emergency surgery. No argument with that!
The operation itself did only take about half an hour and I am currently in no pain whatsoever. The surgeon told me he would be administering two types of local anaesthetic, one which would last one to two hours and another which would last six to eight hours.

Got an email back from Macmillans yesterday, thanking my family for their efforts in raising over £9000 for Macmillans at our fun day last year. This was done in recognition for the support given to me during my fight with Stomach Cancer.
