  • I'm Getting There
    It's not over!

This morning I had a realization. while making a comment I mentioned my heart condition It's genetic. here we go. It's called Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy with Paroxysmal atrial fibrilation not sure about the spelling. basically It Is a disease like cancer only It cannot be cured over time It will get worse. the main concern Is that my heart can stop beating at any time. It's happened three time's so far but only for second's my defib always kick's In and save's me. the last time It happened I was...

I'm the one in three. Cancer is only a part of me.

I don't think I'd appreciated until today how far I'd come in terms of both knowledge and emotion on the whole subject of cancer, me and all that goes with it. Three months ago none of this had happened and I was going about my life none the wiser that I was growing rebel forces in my body. I could have gone on that way until it spread and I started to feel the symptoms but instead it was caught early and I started my journey of being that one out of three people that has cancer at some point....

Hello John you look so well

Had my appointment this morning. saw Dr Chandler Instead of Dr Tipples. as he shook my hand he said. " Hello John you look so well " I thanked him and asked how he was. he was also very well. we had a chat about how I was feeling and what I had been doing since finishing radiotherapy he seemed surprised that I had decorated practically the whole flat and that I had returned to the charity shop I work for. I told him I did feel a little tired for a couple of week's after the radiotherapy but soon...

    Battle
As i go though the daily wait of finding out whether my bloods are recovering, and the fun wait at the end of the month decision by a group of people, half of which i never met or seen who will decide whether i get to have a second go at HDC or be termed as incurable, My mind ponders many things, this time it's the terms 'battle' and 'fight' when used in conjunction with cancer treatment, i for one firmly fall into the 'really get bugged and annoyed 'by people telling me to keep fighting and battling...

Hi, so diagnosed sep 2012' stage 1V MCL, with bowel involvement, was put on watch and wait but by sept 2013 was having bowel obstructive symptoms and a ct scan showed disease progression, so I needed to start chemo. I was advised RCHOP, and RCytaribine on a 7 week Cycle with the aim of a allogenic SCT at the end of 3 cycles. I tolerated the treatment pretty well but was frequently in hospital with sepsis and had cytaribine as an inpatient. I had my SCT in March 2014 from my brother a perfect match...

    The Gift of Radiotherapy

Yep you heard me, I am bloody thrilled! I had my appointment with the haematologist this morning (not that I keep banging on about it or anything) and went through the results of the tests. They took more blood but I guess that's part of their interest so why not.

My lovely haematologist told me he'd already referred me for radiotherapy and I'd get an appointment to see either 'John or John' which then turned out to be 'John or Joan' who work at the Freeman Hospital (not too far away) to book...

Anyone would think my haematologist was Santa Claus

My haematologist is definitely NOT Santa Claus, he's entirely beardless, but the fact I was so tired I could barely function or form proper sentences at work then returned home and realised tomorrow I'd see him and *bing* wide awake!

It seems super wrong that I'm almost looking forward to seeing him, waving the new lumps at him and asking if I'll get radiotherapy now or whether he says I have to go on the active watch and wait list. I completely understand that the list is for your own good...

    Thank you, BBC
Just something I need to get off my chest. My 13-year-old daughter today asked me what stage my cancer is ; I told her 3 and asked her how she knew about cancer staging. She said she'd seen it on BBC Casualty and blithely informed me that stage 1 is where they have caught it early and stage 4 is where they can't do anything about it, before going on to say: "Stage 3 is not very good, is it mum? I wish they had caught it earlier." So do I, my darling, so do I.

    At the Hospice
We have arrived now at the Hospice. Despite my very best efforts Hubby declined over the weekend and after one of the most stressful 48 hours of my life we are finally here. Saturday morning seems years ago now, in these final anxious days each hour seems like one day . We were very fortunate to have a space here and for anyone who is undecided about the Hospice experience I would like to reassure them . My horror and anxiety has turned to calm and with such great support here. We made the right...

    Am I really Traumatized

I'm just sitting here waiting for the new carpet to be delivered and as usual when I've nothing to do I start thinking. I remember talking to my radiotherapist. she Is a very down to Earth person. dress'es like a sixty's hippy and has eye's that don't just look at you. but actually see the person. we were just talking about some of the problem's I've been suffering. I was telling her about not being able to sleep because of going to the toilet some time's up to ...
