    Well.....

Last night didn't hold much restful sleep as I am sure you can imagine.

I was caught unaware whilst writing my blog post by all my Facebook friends lighting candles and posting pictures of them to let me know they were thinking of me.  My Facebook went nuts for over an hour and my eyes leaked not for the first time, not entirely helped with my writing of quite an emotional blog.  I often cry a little while I write my blog posts, especially the ones that mention the children.  So I was...

    Tomorrow is D-Day

    Hello everyone,

This week we should have been on our family holiday.  In our little touring caravan meant for four but with six.  We went to Scarborough last year and really loved it.  I have many fond memories of holidays in my grandparents touring caravan from my childhood.  Caravans for both A and I are emotionally linked with our past and now hopefully our children's as we seek to imbue the same love in them.  Glad to say they do.  However we are not going, we cannot as I have to attend my chemotherapy...

    The Night Before...

    Evening all,

Tonight is the night before.  The night before the scan.  The first full body tissue scan I have received since my diagnosis.  I am nervous.  I have had other scans but they have all either been local to the area the known cancer is or of my bones.  To date I have had no scan of my bodily tissues.  Clearly this has implications and I am afraid that they will pick the cancer up in one of my vital organs.  In my head this is not good.  Well that's not true, I know it is not good, all the people...

Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining

    Hi

Promises....... of a journey creating many moments of happiness that outweigh the challenging moments.

I have been diagnosed with a very aggressive neuroendocrine tumour with unknown primary.  At present these gremlins are taking over my liver.

The words no one wants to hear....We think you have neuroendocrine cancer so we are going to do further testing. The biopsy shows you have neuroendocrine cancer and it is very aggressive. Not only is it a rare cancer, it is very rare in that it is very aggressive...

    Carers and Chemo

    Evening all,

I am sitting here with the twins on the bed scoffing malted milks and my eldest son helping me watch them. He is a proper little diamond is Older Master T, even though sometimes he can be a pain, he unfailingly provides help when I ask these days and I am very grateful to him.  I am anxious that he should not become a 'young carer' but am realistic to know that at some point this is going to be increasingly more likely.

A and I have had a row, he has gone off on his bike, we...

  • A journey through throat cancer
    Between jinxing and optimism

It is now two weeks since I completed my six week course of radio and chemotherapy and I want to say that I am starting to feel better or, at very least, that I have stopped feeling worse. Yet something holds me back from saying this. It sounds very irrational but it is akin to a fear of "jinxing" myself.

One of the best books on cancer I have read so far is Anticancer: a new way of life,  by Dr David Servan-Schreiber. Servan-Schreiber was French physician and neuroscientist who spent much...

Fair and reasonable behaviour from employer?

My husband has been sacked from his job on the very day he was informed he must have lifesaving surgery for kidney cancer.

He had undergone tests over a period of three months and was worried about losing his job.  So much so that he cancelled the most important test for fear of taking time off work.

He collapsed at work and his employer even stated in the termination letter ‘you only returned to work for part of the day’ and the reason why?...

    9 to 5...

New photo id entry cards have been installed at work and we had the option to supply a new photo or use the one on our HR file. Mine may not be the best but it is four years younger, so no way am I going to change that!

    Up the corner,

    Down the lane,

    Well pressed dresses,

    On the train…

    Often running,

    Jobs to do,

    Making cash for

    Others, who

    Need to know that

    Someone cares

    (sleepless nights and

    waiting chairs)...

    Who’d have thought it,

    Little me,

    Income process,

    Charity....

    One tit...
