Well today I do something I haven't done before.......my own blog! Hmmmmm will I have enough to say? Will any of it make sense? Will it help me? Well I suppose it doesn't matter this is just a space for me to talk to myself to share how I really feel without having to worry about upsetting anyone else.
Its been 2 years since my bone mets were found, 2 years! Where the heck did that time go! Well I had half my sternum removed, changed hospitals, started a new treatment, moved back to live...
When the nurse called me three weeks after my hysterectomy, she told me that due to the aggressive nature of the cancer I would need chemotherapy, at this time I thought I was only dealing with cervical adenocarcinoma.
I thought I knew a fair amount about chemo, how wrong I was.
My first meeting with my oncologist still didn't reveal the name of my cancer, but I was shocked to find that the chemotherapy wasn't being given to offer me a cure, but purely to attempt the stop the spread. At this...
Ok, so grab a bottle of Single Malt, get a comfortable seat and let the journey commence.
1976 - Allergy related Asthma
1999 - Primary Continuous T Cell Lymphoma (CTCL)
2010 - Thoratic & Lumber Spondylosis - Spinal Osteoarthritis
2012 - Pleural Thickening and Pleural Plaque (Right Lung) - Asbestosis
This one came out of the blue. I was getting CT scans every year to check for any progression of my CTCL and my Dermatologist was reviewing my CT report and said 'everything is looking great and you will...
It is 6am and I am writing this because the pain in my operation site woke me.
I had a laser resection of the right side of my tongue 6 days ago and things are actually worse now. Before the operation I had no real symptoms, just some small whitish patches on the side of my tongue. I have had lichen planus on and off for years but my dentist thought these were different. Biopsy confirmed an early SCC.
No I know it is less than a week since my surgery, but each day it seems to be worse in terms of...
I did the last of my stomach injections last night. Yippee! It's been difficult, self-injecting, because I have a bit of a needle phobia; however, I found it not too bad doing it myself. The needles we're superfine and the disposable syringe mechanism meant that once the plunger was fully depressed the needle popped out on it's own. The needle withdrawal was always the worst part for me but no problem with these syringes. It's four weeks since the operation and I'm doing very well so far. I have...
Weird dream last night. I dreamt my night bag tube disconnected from the day bag in bed. For some reason I had to hold the day bag stopper in my mouth while searching for the tube. I got it sorted in the dream but the thing was that I didn't panic. I was a bit confused when I woke up but glad to find it was a dream.
Done my 2nd from last stomach injection. Be glad to have finished that!
I feel better today after a couple of down days. I'm losing a bit of blood, pale, from the nether regions. My...
As usual just when I feel I can relax and live life for a while something crops up and bites me on the bum.
I’ve mentioned that I still get pains in my backside. Over the past few weeks these have been getting worse. I get a dull ache where my anus used to be and then occasional shooting pains in my left buttock and down my left leg. Very odd but they do wake me up at night.
So I decided to call my colorectal nurse to get some advice. She in turn consulted my colorectal surgeon who performed...
My girlfriend's Mum has been diagnosed with a malignant melanoma. This happened in the last 2-3 weeks but my girlfriend only told me last week. We have been in a long distance relationship for just over 2 months and she didn't want to tell me over the phone. She has understandably been spending all her time back home with her Mum & family since the diagnosis. I don't know what to say to her or how to support her. She told me to keep messaging her, so I've sent one each day but they seem so irrelevant...
