Weird Emotions - What's the Answer?
A strange day yesterday (Bank holiday Sunday) hubby went off to Bude with the Y5 from his school – I insisted on this annual arrangement as it will give him the opportunity, if only momentarily, to forget about this whole bloody situation. Mind you by the time he comes back on Friday, he will be so tired after body boarding (he fell off last year), mountain biking (he fell off last year) Orienteering (didn’t get lost last year) rock climbing (didn’t fall off last year) that he will need to recover...

Am I doing the right thing………?
Well, I never expected to be posting like this. It is 6 minutes past two in the morning on Bank Holiday Monday, a time when all normal mortals in the New Forest are tucked up nice and cosy in their leafy burrows. Steve, as you can see, is not. I am sitting at the keyboard of my faithful old computer, waiting for the paracetamol to take away the mother of all headaches, caused by yet another session of Australian Shiraz. Yup – it was self-inflicted and I’m not after sympathy. I had a great Sunday...

    How Scared should I Feel!!
Went to see the ocologist on Thursday... I knew I had cancer but didn't know what stage I was at. Because I had been told that I had been 'caught early, was relatively young (good news) and was reasonably fit and healthy' I was expecting stage 1/2 - guess what..... sod's law - stage 4 with it spreading to my liver. Have to have a kidney test done on Wednesday this week and then start on the chemo the following week... the objective is to get me into remission. All my family and most of my friends...

Back from the brink - with 50% Off!!
Well im back...now with 50% off (the right one) It was all going according to plan. I felt well enough to walk down to theatre and met my surgeon again (big Irish fella) and walked into the prelim room prior to having surgery, He turned to me and calmy said " lay yourself out on the floor Robert and get comfortable, we dont normally supply pillows but I can ask around if you like...." that instantly warmed me to him. He'd told me earlier that he himself had lost a friend (testicle) 30 yrs ago, so...

    The next step will be.......?
Hi Friends…. OK, so it’s been a while since the last blog – but there really has has been beggar all to tell (unless you want to know about my toe nail cuttings……..No, I thought not) Anyway – yesterday I went to Salisbury to see my Consultant or, as the letter said, a member of the team. Two weeks ago I had an MRI scan to see if the cancer had escaped the prostate and had found its way around the rest of my body - heaven knows, there’s enough body for it to use. My appointment yesterday was to...

Side effects of chemo- everyone welcome to comment!
hi everyone, im just writing to try and find out what kind of symptoms anyone with hodgkins lymphoma has had with their chemo? my mum had her first session of abvd on tuesday. since then she hasnt felt sick or been sick, she felt a bit spaced out on wednesday night and tired, but on thursday felt totally fine. today she has aching glands in her neck and armpits and chest , but they are not swollen. her lymphoma is in her chest so i suspect that maybe her aching glands are just the chemo drugs working...

Had the dreaded phonecall today! Have to go for a biopsy to test for lymphoma but have to wait 3-4 wks to get to that stage and another 1-2 wks for result! Feel awfull anyway just making it worse. Have told husband and he is putting on brave face for me, but when to tell the family? All they know is i have been unwell for sometime and had blood tests, x-rays and ct scans and trips to hospitals, but when to tell them, what and who? Can anyone out there share their experiences? Great present for my...

    Result of bone scan
Got the god news from my GP that my bone scan is clear. Still have a lot of pain in the arm and rib. Am told it is the effects from the radiotherapy which I finished last November. Seems I just have to take painkillers but at least my fears were unfounded. I am lucky that I have a brilliant GP. The breast cancer nurse from the hospital has not phoned me with the results!!!!!
