This can't be happening...... can it?
In January I was given the all clear following 18 months of treatment for breast cancer. We are just recovering from the trauma of this and trying to get our lives back together! However, following an episode of blood in his urine, my husband is now being fast tracked to a urologist for investigations, there is no symptoms, pain or otherwise. Mention the word 'fast track' and my mind goes into overdrive. I can't believe it is happening to us again!!

    My Darling Bobbie
What a scare we had last week, my Bobbie ended up back in hospital, was so unwell, I felt hopeless yet again that you have no control. One day good news, then the next in hospital. Sat in A & E for an hour before being seen, do not know what this piece of paper they call a passport is. They say it is supposed to get you seen quicker because of being on chemo, but does not mean a thing. I don't mean to moan because I know there are many people in a&e needing to be seen, but when its your loved...

    can't help but feel alone
Hi all, it's about 11:15 and the household is shutting down, but my head isn't, maybe those sleeping tablets have lost their power to put me in nice land of nod. The kids are in bed, my husband (who's got a cold) in bed the cats have turned in and the dogs have also abbandoned me and gone in there baskets! So here alone with my thoughts overtaking me! They are as follows-feeling sorry for myself-feeling alone and has my life been worth it! Don't have many friends on here, sometimes wonder if they...

    Lost Without My Beautiful Mum
On the 21st January 2009 my beautiful and amazing Mum Lena died suddenly of Ovarian Cancer aged 55. My mum fell ill a few weeks before Christmas 2008. Mum was admitted to hospital, but discharged nine days later with a bowel condition and was told her condition would improve with bed rest and medication. After two extremely restless and painful weeks Mum’s condition worsened, so we re-admitted her to hospital. Two days later my family and I were informed by the doctor that Mum had cancer, we were...

    Back to reality
Got back from a fantastic holiday, great hotel, weather. Clive went parascending , jetbiking and did 6 scuba dives. Sieze the moment and all that. Since we got back his eating had been getting bad again , no meat / bread. Had his first lot of taxotere chemo a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't seem half as bad as the 5fu one so far. Was much tireder with the other one and no sign of hair dropping out yet. A few days ago he has noticed his swallowing has improved again and he even ate pork pie yesterday...

    screening for lung cancer
Hi all I just wondered why there is no screening for lung cancer given that it is very common in a certain age group and more treatable if detected early. Surely a simple X-ray could be used? If anyone has any positive lung cancer stories they'd be welcome. We're still waiting for my dad to see the consultant this week so know very little thus far. Annie x

    Hypertensive Crises
Hi people, hope your all doing well as you can! Just thought I'd let you know of my horrible experience with chemo over the last few weeks, but don't want to scare anyone that is taking it, because it only happen to 1/100 people-and i was either the 1 or the 100!! Just want to make you all aware that while you are undergoing treatment it is wise to do your blood pressure otherwise you can suffer with something called a 'hypertensive crisis', makes you life threatningly ill, your blood pressure creeps...

Can anyone help.... My mum was diagnosed with a Sarcoma (Stage 4) in her thigh at christmas after a year of thinking it was a pulled muscle and having 6 months of physio!! It was removed in January but as it was in the muscle they had to remove two large muscle groups from her leg and also a main nerve.
