Back to reality

Less than one minute read time.
Got back from a fantastic holiday, great hotel, weather. Clive went parascending , jetbiking and did 6 scuba dives. Sieze the moment and all that. Since we got back his eating had been getting bad again , no meat / bread. Had his first lot of taxotere chemo a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't seem half as bad as the 5fu one so far. Was much tireder with the other one and no sign of hair dropping out yet. A few days ago he has noticed his swallowing has improved again and he even ate pork pie yesterday! Lets hope it is kicking its arse!!! He has been getting aching on his shoulderblade and breast bone which is a bit of a worry but we are seenig the oncologist on Wed so we will see what he says, keep fingers crossed.

Hi guys, have just got back from a great time in Tenerife too.  Its great isnt it??

Loved the warm air and the sound of the waves although the water was too cold for me to go into!!  I dont do cold water x lol

Just thought I would let you know that I had an ache in my left shoulder which sometimes was incredibly painful, also chest pains on and off.  When I spoke to the Macmillan nurse she told me its common knowledge that any problems in the gastric region present themselves in the left chest/shoulder area.  I had spoken to a  doctor about this previously and he couldnt figure it out.

I now have omoprazole every morning and it has taken care of the pains.  The pains are caused by the acid produced in the stomach.  I thought it was a placebo at first but forgot it for two days last week and definately paid the price so I wont be forgetting them anymore.

It has proved to me that the cancer nurses that work with the patients sometimes have more knowledge than the doctors but to get a second opinion does help sometimes.

All the best guys, speak soon.

    Joanne

Tenerife definitely is the place to go! The holiday insurance company gave us a very small list of places we could go and as we wanted good weather, it fitted the bill perfectly. It certainly charged us up ready for more of the onslaught! The oncologist has given Clive Cocodomal for the shoulder aches, he said it was to do with the infected lymph nodes effecting the nerves and said if the chemo was working it would go. So far so good the aches are not as bad, and eating has improved so fingers crossed.

Good luck with your next lot
