    Im done with CHEMO!!!!!
On the 24th of April, this year. I was sitting alone in a small room in a very large hospital. A man walked in, introduced himself and asked me to drop my trousers. He told me his name and that he was one of the chief urologists. Within 2 mins of inspecting me. He said these words. 'Well Robert. Im not going to waste any time sending you down for a scan. You do have cancer. and well....that (points) has got to go.' I smiled....the I grinned....then I shook my head...while smiling still.. ten minutes...

    Round and round we go!
Well just back from my ultrasound, following the discovery of a lump in my groin. The same side that I had the lymph node dissection last year. And it's a..........swollen lymph node!! Wasn't quite expecting to hear that! Got an appointment with the oncologist next week, so expect I'll find out more then. I suppose until then I can live in hope that it's a stray solitary lymph node trying valiantly to clear the lymphoedema in my leg and nothing more sinister! One of my shorter blogs... don...

My dad passe away on 21st July.
My lovely dad passed away on 21st July 2009. It was so hard watching such a strong man lying there and gasping for breath. He really did fight the most bravest of battles and I am so proud of him. My dad never wanted to know his prognosis and believed he would live for at least a few years. In a way I suppose because he was only correctly diagnosed in Feb this year, it did not give him much time to think about his cancer. I really do feel for those of you that have lived with this cruel illness...

    Still Waiting
It's been over a month now since I was officialy diagnosed and staged with the Pancreatic Adenocarcenoma. I have interviewed 3 "In Network" surgeons, none of which has performed the "Whipple" procedure in over a year. No Way Jose'. Would you want someone rebuilding your engine if they haven't lifted the (hood) bonnet in a year? I requested a referal to the City of Hope here in Duarte, where I work, to see Dr Ellenhorn pancreatic surgery specialist. He has done at least a dozen or so recently. HMO...

    Looking for the positives.
Well I haven't blogged for a while but I have been reading all the other blogs with interest. Many times they make me cry and also laugh. I was discussing the calendar with someone at work today and it struck me that there are positives amongst all this pain. When Mum was diagnosed in April it felt like my world fell apart. Of course, there are still days like this especially when Mum is down and very obviously ill. However, without this illness what would life be like now? Well, I would be at home...

So we had a FAB weekend...didnt go to Mountfitchet in the end as Saturday was sooo much fun and we were all exhausted!! We did go bowling though and I lost miserably as always. Went to Addenbrookes yesterday for the PET scan...how boring!! left to sit there for an hour in a freezing cold bay with no magazines or anything. Couldnt believe the parking fee either £6 for 2 hrs!!!! A couple of thoughts...
