    Still waiting
Just thought i would add an update, for anyone who hasnt read my one and only other blog, my 25 year old sister (who actually turned 26 yesterday!) So 26 year old sister, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid laukaemia on the 3rd of april 2009. She was in remission after her first lot of chemo, but due to her subtype and a few unpleasant markers, she was informed that her only chance of 'cure' was a bone marrow transplant, luckily i'm a match, which was against the odds, so everything was able to go ahead...

    sleeping like a baby...
    - up every 3 hours! I'm wide awake and not a steroid in sight... Went to the dentist yesterday which meant a trip to the seaside - Whitby. I'm into going to the seaside at the minute. We met our dentist at a jam session - he was a drummer, lol. Not at all disconcerting - he has very steady hands (unlike the bone marrow biopsy nurse-in-training who used to be a chef at a pub I worked in 20 years ago! I can still see her hacking steaks and stuff! She had not very steady hands so my Consultant took...

Coming out the other end - nipple-guard first!!
Thought I would post a blog as feeling very positive and realised my profile is so out of date. Having had a mastectomy with an immediate back flap recon in Jan 08 I have been thro the ups and (more often) downs of chemo and radio with more side effects and hiccups than I would have hoped but yesterday I had the "dog ear" tidied up on my back and a new nipple made at the "Buy shares in our car park" hospital that is the Royal Free. Still reeling from the shock of the £21 parking fee. I am still...

    Treatment Plan: Climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro
Morning All, A hearty thank you for your well wishes and your prayers. Both are much appreciated. Meet with Dr. Chan, my oncologist, and was told I'd be having chemo, radiation, Hercepin and Tamoxifen. Am scheduling for a port too. As they say, one day at a time. I have a prescription for a wig. Might decide to go blond or red for that matter as I have always been a luxurious onyx/brunette. Just kidding, have to mix in humor from time to time. I take courage from you all who have gone through...

    Busy bee
Up early today as sleep wasn't happening again. Hubby brought me a cuppa before he went to work and then I got up. Have been busy today cleaning up the house as here on my own. Lauren at her sisters overnight and all today. I am wondering how long it'll take to be messy again once they are back, but who cares! Going out for lunch tomorrow with old friends, haven't seen them for about 2 years, but when they heard they got in touch. Shame it takes news like this for friends to get in touch with each...

    How do we cope?
My family have been on the lung cancer roller-coaster for the last 18 months. I think Dad is moving towards the end, he has been fighting but seemingly the battle is almost lost. He almost died two weeks ago, and we were told last week that he may only have a matter of days left, but he has rallied, and they are talking about letting him come home from the hospital, which is great. Really worried about Mum and how she will manage, as we don't live close enough to be there every day. Don't know how...

Well tomorrow is the day for the trouth.
Well only 24 hours to go to ‘til I get the results from all those tests and the CT scan. It is really playing on my mind now! I did not get a lot of sleep last night. I went for a walk in the early hours only to be approached by a Community Support Officer duo who interrogated me on my reasons for wondering around at 4am. Then they suggested that they should ensure that I got home safely. I am certain they really only wanted to check I lived where I said. Any way the walk did not help that much...

    Poor Mum!
Well, Mum went to get the results of her CT scan yesterday and it is not looking good. The oncologist has stopped treatment for the Lung cancer because he says it has been shrunk as much as possible and Mum is too exhausted for anymore. BUT it appears that what he thought was spread in her breast and spine is actually Primary breast cancer with spread to her spine. So the chemo for the lungs has had no effect on that and the spinal tumours are getting bigger. So now she has to have a biopsy on her...

    Upbeat message
Hi everyone I love reading the blogs on this site and I thought I would send an upbeat message about my chemotherapy treatment. After being diagnosed with this damn disease on May 1st we flew back to England for treatment (even though we have American medical insurance). Time will tell if we made the right decision. I had my 4th cycle of 6 yesterday with 2 more to go. This will be then followed by 20 sessions of external and 2 sessions of internal radiation - yuck. After reading about some...
