This is where the worst begins... I think.

My mother in law was diagnosed in August with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer but has remained remarkably well since. She has had some swelling of her legs due to loss of Liver function and some bladder incontinance but has otherwise been able to do most things for herself.

Last Saturday she was admitted to hospital with a DVT and infection in the Gallbladder. She has struggled to regain the same vigour that she had before her admission. I haven't seen her myself as the children and I have been poorly...

    I week on...

    Friday, October 9th 2009

I can't believe that a whole week has flown by. And, oh what a difference those 7 days make. Andrew began eating again yesterday. He had a small cup of chicken broth and then later he had a very small portion of cream of wheat. His body seemed to cope well .. we do have to do a fair bit of walking the halls in order to activate the digestive system but the main thing is that it's working. He also had the IV removed so no saline solution bloating the body and no magic pain...

    arrrghhh!

Is it just me or would it be great if we coud access to a padded, sound proof room to let of steam?!?

I have just spent the evening counteracting Sammi's chemo with a load of other medicines to let her get to sleep.

She had sore eyes so we got out the codine, then she had a headache so we got out the paracetamol then she had a sore tummy because of the chemo and other medicines we gave to her so we gave her something for that.

She is only 9 and we seem to be pouring medicine down her all the...

    Day 25 Bertiebassetts Return Journey
Another good day. Bert is almost sounding like himself and he put his hearing aids in before I went to visit which of late has been unusual so he is obviously feeling better. He is due for some blood and platelets so tomorrow he should look a lot less grey I hope. Someone please give me a shake I need to get my ironing done  and really cant be bothered. Failing that I could leave a set of keys underneath a plant pot and you could come and help. Thinking back that is not funny as yesterday at lunchtime...

    Another good word....

Today was results day, it's been 2 and a half weeks since I had another lump removed from my groin.  I didn't realise just how stressed I had been, until I was sat in the waiting room fighting off the all too common signs that a panic attack was about to rear its ugly head, add to that an inappropriately timed hot flush and it's amazing that I actually made it to see my surgeon!

Anyhow, the lump was just an abnormal lymph node, no sign of any melanoma cells or other malignancy at all.

    Angel

    I’m sending you an angel
I hope you’ll keep her near
She’ll help you through your sadness
She’ll help you through your fear
    She’ll bring a little light
    To your darkest day
She’ll guide you through the maze
and help you find your way
    And sometime in the future
    When you’re feeling strong
I hope you’ll take my angel
    And gladly pass her on.
    Classy xx

The story so far ... 2

Mum went to the consultant today - brilliant news!  He doesn't think the cancer is back.  She will have to have a colonoscopy just to check out some inflammation, but he was sure it was not cancer.  Yippee!!!!

Dad is getting better day by day.  Next appointment end of the month.  Fingers crossed. xx
