Friday 6th November 2009 will be a day I will never forget.
I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy at Pinehill Hospital in Hitchin. They found an 'abnormality" near the bottom of the colon, just above the rectum.
Hopefully is early stage and has not spread.
Going back to see the consultant on Saturday morning to get more information and to get CAT scan and MRI scan arranged. I will also need a full Colonoscopy to see if there are any more 'abnormaties' or polyps
Usual routine today. Hickman gave up the blood without a fight this morning so that was a good start. Neutrophils are zero so today or tomorrow will be the bottom out days before things start to rise. Platelets down to 40 which means the daily Clexane injections (blood thinner) have been stopped so that’s another little bonus. Feel good today. Spent a nice afternoon digging out you tube stuff to pass on to the boys. Today sent them a whole load of music to explore from soundtracks, blues women...
Its now two and a half months since my husband was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.
They were very dark days with many black thoughts. Peter had developed nephrotic syndrome, In June he had a kidney biopsy for his failing kidneys and I thought that was bad.
Then he was discovered to have two crushed vertibrae, eventualy he was diagnosed with MM and I/we thought the worst. Things are much brighter now. He was on massive doses of morphine for his back and steroids for his kidneys as well as 'water...
Hi All
It's just under 6 months since my meeting with Ivor Lewis, I've seen his picture on the web. I wonder how his first patient felt when he woke up from the opin 1946. Anyway enough of history.
I feel i'm getting better each week then i realise it's my brain that fully fit but the body's not cought up with it. I'm eating most thing ok still only same weight though. When ever i eat i have to sit down and relax as i get bad stomach ache.but luckely i'm not getting muscle spasm as bad....
Well I had another nerve wracking day away from Aberdeen, I went so see dad as soon as I go in from Livingston and wow what a difference. He was sitting up making conversation, managing to drink a cup of tea, devoured a mars bar that I took in for him he is looking the best he has in a couple of weeks since we hit the low. His lymphodeomia is back so they are going to put on his bandage again. His veins are collapsing around him he has his drip in a different place every time I see him but all in...
Only found out over the summer that Mum has kidney cancer - in operable & she's in denial.
I'm managing to get by keeping busy - when is it going to all come tumbling down? Is there a time when you suddenly hit a wall?
Had a fantastic nights sleep on Friday and woke feeling a lot more positive, spent the day just mooching about in my new jim jams watchin telly and catchin up on all the blogs I had missed while in hospital.
Round about 5ish needed the loo so off I trotted, reached round for the loo roll and OMG...the pain was unbearable, managed to make my way back to the bed (if I can just lie down it will all go away) had to pant as pain was worse if I tried to breath normally and the pain didnt magically disappear...
I had breast cancer 2 years ago. I was 32 weeks pregnant when I found out, I had also just come out of hospital a few days before I found out with phnumonia and a collapsed lung.
The day i found out I had breast cancer I was on my own, and instantly threw up.
I wasnt scared as I had the new baby to think about.
I moved 150 miles the same week to be with my new partner, ( babies father )
From there things went from bad to worse.
I feel I have coped well, but now 2 years down the line, I am really...
I'm really not liking this...I'm getting fatter and fatter!!! I just bought new clothes so I could be comfy with my new and improved bod (the thinner version), especially during chemo. I hate that bound up feeling while havng tubes running in and about me. But I am slowly and surely putting on weight!!! I guess I was having too much of a good time with my food since I had been deprived of so much of it so often (intestinal obstructions, nausea, surgery, blah, blah, blah)...<sigh>......
