    general update

Dad say consultant yesterday and for once we had "good news". His blood count is holding and he is generally a lot better since being taken off the drug trial and put back on Sutent. Apparently there are 4 still on the drug trial for whom there has been "some" degree of improvement.

Dad is now on sutent full time (no breaks anymore as they think its better) and seems to be coping so much better, not sure if its because he now takes the medication in the morning as apposed to...

There is a Vibe in this Tart!

Things are definitely looking up at Cold Comfort Cottage.
The snow is melting.  The oil and logs have been delivered.  The last Christmas presents have also been delivered by previously snow-bound relations (yes - there was another scarf in there).  Our Hero has eaten not one, but two (very small) slices of lovingly hand-made cheese tart, accompanied by a mouthful of mashed carrots.
Our Maverick Surgeon’s magic seems to be doing the good work and the primary tumour is clearly shrinking...

  • My story so far
Yikes, 3 month checkup brought forward

Been a bit worried because my son's body has been aching so much over the last couple of weeks. He keeps feeling nauseous too and last night his ankle was swollen and itching like mad. He was in so much pain I had to help him out of bed and to get dressed

Trying not to burst into tears (I've become such a wet blanket), I called the lymphoma nurse today and she suggested we bring his 3 monthly check forward.

Feeling slightly panicky. Had hoped she'd say this was all perfectly normal and I was...

PLEASE Please i need help now!!! Miracle or not??

IS THIS A MIRACLE OR ARE THEY WRONG AGAIN!!

If anyone has read my previous posts you may know why i need your help.

In dec 09 dad has a biopsy on a tumor in his armpit. Doc told us then he was 99'/. sure it was lymphatic cancer and was easily treated.

    Then

On xmas eve dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was given weeks to live. 6-12 months with chemo. We have been completely heartbroken.

We then found out the primary was in his windpipe with secondaries on both lungs and also...

    21st Jan 2010 Bertiebassett

Haematology appointment was today. Bert has been having double vision for a while along with a personality change. I had my suspicion's confirmed. The Leukaemia has spread to his brain. He refuses to discuss anything with the Dr's so it is left to me. I decided that I did not want an MRI of his brain as there is nothing they can do about it anyway. They have given him a trial of steroids to see if that will make things any easier for him we will know fairly soon if it does.

  • My story
    Looking forward

    Hi all,

feeling a bit naughty sneaky this is while hubby is in the shower but I feel that I shouldn't be sharing all my thoughts with the world even though many of those reading are in similiar or much much situations than ours.

Anyway, we got to day 7 of the Sutent before it took it's toll on DH and he has been unable to go work today. Getting up at 5am is hard enough (so I've been told) when you are healthy so I can only imagaine how it's been for him to get himself up while on the treatment...

    My Mri results

Well yesterday i got my results of an mri they did last week the good news is the tumour has shrunk and it hasn't spread but the infected lymph nodes have not shrunk or changed as much as hoped or would have liked, so i have to go for chemo on Monday as planned, as she said another lot won't do any harm while we wait to decide what to do.

She told me she didn't think the surgeons would operate with the lymph nodes being the way they are but she will put my case forward at the mdt meeting...
