    ...and yet more cancer

Have blogged on here only a few times really just giving updates on my nephew's cancer fight.  He is currently in remission from synovial sarcoma and doing really well.  Yesterday my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  Contained (hopefully) but a 9 on the gleason scale so aggressive.  We are all in a state of shock that cancer is, once again, invading the family.  The last 18 months have been extremely difficult for Mum and Dad who had to see their darling grandson (12 years old today) go...

The NHS is having to save money over the next few years!

Over the next few years the NHS is going to have to save significant amounts of money in some areas, even in the provision of cancer services, in order to cover the increasing costs of health care. They are working on ideas of how to increase the cost effectiveness of the services they provide but keep the quality of care patients receive as high as possible. At Macmillan we are committed to make sure that quality of the care people receive gets better and want to make sure NHS does not just cut services...

    Getting it off my chest

I apologise to anyone about to read this, I just need to put it down in writing really and thought where better then here.

In October I was told that my dad had prostate cancer with secondary bone cancer, and everything changed.  I'n not here to write about my dad, he is doing ok and to be honest its a little to painful to write about without crying and as im currently sitting at work maybe not such a good idea.

One thing i have found though is my total lack of interest in things, Im 23 and...

life insurance policy- critical illness cover

Tell me your good or bad experiences... this is a minor problem in the bigger scheme of things. I'm with Aviva through Tesco life insurance. I was advised by call-centre staff I must be diagnosed as terminally ill (within 12 months) and there must be at least 18 months remaining on the policy. My oncologist is unwilling to co-operate with claim submission at this time, because he wants to know how I respond to treatment. Fair enough.

If I don't get a critical illness claim pay-out there are still...

    I'm new here

I found this site just when I was convinced that there was no help out there for people like me, I am a 51 year old female, non smoker or drinker, but one week before Christmas I was diagnosed with Squamous cell carcinoma of the Oesophagus, for 8 months and 8 Dr's I had been telling them that something was very wrong, they all had an opinion, they were all wrong, eventually they settled on the diagnosis of a Hiatus Hernia, I disagreed with this, some how I just knew that was not what was wrong. Sadly...
