    Great Day!

Had a great day today, went out for a drive to find somewhere nice for Sunday lunch and sliiiiiippppppppped on a huge piece of ice and the car ended up landing in amongst bushes and trees and sludgy mud just off the road!   That did put us off schedule for and hour and 45 mins but hey ho it was good fun (only because the car wasn't damaged!).  Some sweet lady bought us hot chocolate and biscuits which the girls loved, not everyone has a picnic in the freezing cold!! lol.

New Chemo, any ideas of side effects?
Hi guys and gals, Dad is being started (hopefully) on thursday with his nesw chemo cyle. Out of the last cycle he only had the 1st dose as he had a severe reaction to the cisplatin. On thurs he is supposed to be starting the new stuff which is ETOPISED AND CARBOPLATIN. I say supposed to because he is still in hospital on a drip to rehydrate him. Can anyone give me some idea of what this new stuff may have in store for him. He has had such a bad experience with the cisplatin last time he is contemplating...

    Where there's a vibe ... there's life.

You will need the fire well stoked in order to get into the mood for this episode: Our Hero and The Meddlesome Wife have, again, the snow flurrying around Cold Comfort Cottage.
We will set the scene:  The moon is full and The Hounds are dreaming whatever wolfish dreams hounds have on silver, moonlit nights.  (I suspect their dreams are full of doggy clichés, but let’s not disrupt the mood.) They are dreaming, perhaps, that they are snaking down the mountainside with the pack, forming a sinuous...

    getting very nervous

I'm due to start SIRT at the end of Feb. 3 weeks later than it should have been which means I'm without any chemo for longer than I needed to be which is a bit scary in itself. I've had over 6 months of chemo  and as much as you wish you didn't have to keep taking the drugs it still scares the hell out of you when you don't have it.

I have the 'dummy run' to check the radiation will go in all the right places on the 16th and pray to god all being well with that, the treatment...

    30th Jan 2010 Bertiebassett

Bert was rushed into hospital in the early hours of Friday morning with a temp of 39.1 confused aggressive and scared. He most likely has an infection as his temp keeps going back up we are waiting on results of cultures to find out where it is. Until the he is on some strong antibiotics and they are keeping him comfortable. I will be sleeping in his room with him as I don't want to leave him on his own. They have fitted him with a catheter and he keeps trying to pull it out.But mostly he is asleep...

    back online

Hi to everyone, I havent been able to get back online since the big change last year, so I lost heart a little.

To recap mum was diagnosed with  Lung cancer March 09, and has had Chemo. She has not deteriorated since which is good news and has no new symptoms, so I guess the treatment helped. she does get very tired though which is to be expected.

Any news from old friends would be appriciated. x

    treatment and emotions

    Hi Victoria

My husband has oesophagus cancer, he has just finished radiotherapy a month ago.  I have to blend all his food at the moment, and build up drinks and complain is helpful.  He goes through very different emotions, one day bad, one day good. I just try to be there and listen.  It is very hard to find out your parent has cancer,  you will also be confused and upset at what is happening to your mum, just be there for her and listen to her feelings.  Have you found out what treatment she is having...

Living for the miniscule chance the chemo will work!
    Welcome to my BLOG!

Dads chemo did not work to shrink the cancer (small cell lung cancer - non smoker!) so they are trying a new chemo but its "unlikely" to work.  You are told to be positive so I am hanging on along with Mum, Dad and my Big Sis to the miniscule chance that this chemo will shrink the tumour and they will be able to do radiotherapy!  Until they tell us otherwise I am holding on to that thought!

Go Superdad - Fight the Fight!!!

Whatever happens I am going to be there for...
