  • Getting on with it
    So far...

I had about 18 months of catching every bug going and became really run down - I had (and still have) itchy skin, a persistent cough, night sweats, fatigue and miraculously lost 9kg without realising it.  They thought I had allergies, asthma and then thyroid.  In January 2010 my glands in my neck were swollen and didn't disappear this is when the gp thought thyroid.  I wasn't happy with this so went to the senior gp who immediately put 2 and 2 together to get me fast track referred to en ENT....

Second treatment and PICC line annoyance.

Hi, well wasn't that fun?!  I went in yesterday to have a PICC put in and my second treatment.  The PICC went in fine...but went into my neck instead!  I turned my head like a good girl but it wasn't going round that corner!  Cue re-try, and the same thing happened again.  So glad it wasn't a painful procedure, whether going in or out!  They're referring me for a Groshong, straight into the chest under a local anaesth/sedative, so that sounds fun...

Had my treatment today instead, as they...

    THE ORIGINAL MOLE.(PHOTO NOT GRAPHIC)

    Good evening.

I have managed to find a photo of the original mole. It look a big messy as its post biopsy but its not that different to how i presented it to my GP. I had split it open while getting out the shower before xmas last year and never really healed. 2 months ago i showed my GP... the rest as they say is history.

Amazing how a mole the size of the average thumb nail can make a wound the size it has (for those of you who can bare to look at the photos!)

Hope this is of help to those with...

    Chemo round 2

Today marks round 2 of Dads chemo. The first round was rough , he's alittle like me in that nausea is the worst thing ever . He found it so hard to deal with and we had to get a doc out to help one night .

Side effects haven't been so awful as yet as it was the first round , who knows what this round will be like.

Dad has on good days been out doing stuff like digging a veg patch , there really is no telling folks :) but its good and positive and normal to see him doing these things.

    Little...

    Post day 10..

So, the triedness starts to kick in, totally knackered by 17:00, then always the dreaded sign at Radium treatment desk..DELAY , always 40 minutes...Only 16 radium treatments to go, slowly being crossed off, amazing how these seem to drag, when life seems to be flashing by. Had the review clinic yesterday, talking through any side effects...isn't it weird how you spend your life private on toitlery habits, then you speak so openly on most basic deatils to a complete stranger. Even the wife is unaware...
