    Hi everyone,

Unsure where to write but thanks to all who responded to my last note.

    Dad's passing

Less than 3 weeks after the news that dad had terminal liver cancer, he has passed away.  I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by.  He went into our local hospice last Friday and died late last night with my mum and their dogs by his side.

He went so quickly at the end, very peacefully.  The last few days have been upsetting and exhausting, and I know the following days will be the same while I support my mum through death notifications, funeral arrangements and the needs of daily life.  But...

Usually when this happens jack russel is sat between us doing wimbledon impression following conversationDaughter asked where's dog went outside and dog is in ' can I have it ' pose.Fixed stare, shaking and paw raised. When D turned to see what dog was looking at there was a white silky chicken in with our 4 RHode Island Reds. Some kind person has dumped him/her can't tell yet as it wont let us near it....

That's what I am feeling right now.
Today, just up the street, was a cluster of neighbours talking on the sidewalk. The news is that one of our neighbour’s wife died of cancer yesterday. I didn’t really see her that often and I see him slowly walking his dog occasionally. His dog is an ancient, overweight, mild mannered Jack Russell. Unlike my boxer dog Kojak who is the opposite of mild. I saw him out once walking just as slowly and carefully with her too. She was wearing her chemo headscarf and looked thin and pale. I remember saying...

  • My Journey
    The story so far ...

My name is Gill, I am 33. I grew up in the North West with the greatest parents in the world.

I am a fixer of things - people and problems and this is the story of how I am trying to cope with the biggest 'problem' that I cannot fix or mend or even paper over.

My mum was first diagnosed with cancer in 2005, it was uterine and she had a full abdominal hysterectomy. This was followed by radiotherapy, all went well.

The following summer she began to experience symptoms of an inner ear disorder...
