Hi everyone,

Unsure where to write but thanks to all who responded to my last note.

I finished first cycle of gemcitabine with few hitches, no nauseau and no hair thinning as yet. My white cell count dropped but I had an injection of GSF to boost this sucessfully. It's my week off and then I think I'm commencing Capcitabine with Gemcitabine 2nd cycle.

Does anyone know what benefits if any financially I would be entitles to. I'm currently still on full pay but that halves next month although I will get sickness benefit. Cancerbackup will also cover GP costs if nedd, in my area we pay £34 per visit! Scandalous! I'm by no means broke but having worked as nurse 30 years feel I fel no guilt in claiming charity.

As mentioned prior I was diagnosed April and had whipples procedure. can anyone give me timescales since their surgery and how they are progressing and any prognosis?

This is a great site and thanks all so much for feedback.

    Hi Ainsley,

Contact Macmillan, I;m going to do that in the morning myself. I live on a pension but don't seem to be entitled to anything! Can I ask why you pay for a GP? Sounds outrageous to me.

Battle on !! Love Jen XX

in Jersey everyone pays to see their GP! I finished chemo and my scan was clear, I just get scanned every 3 months now and bloods taken. feeling well, still get tires but I guess a year doing nothing could account for that. Anyone in the same boat as me following whipples surgey for pancreatic cancer and 6 months chemo?
