My dad passed away yesterday and I'm devastated. Although he was a good age 81 he was a wonderful dad and we are all goingto miss him. I found this past week extremely hard as he deteriated quickly and was clearly distressed and very very ill. Think nursing staff were also surprised by how quickly things happened. Very upset that I wasnt with him at the end.

    chest drain
My Mother-in-law ended back in hospital yesterday, she didn't feel well and felt the fluid was building up again. She had a chest xray when she arrived but unfortunally as it's the week-end no doc available to do the drain. My father-in-law was very angry about this but I tried explaining that the hospital's prioty were critical patients and that she would be done as soon as there was a doctor free. They have said now the chest drain will be done on Monday so my mother-in-law was allowed home on...

    New Boob for Christmas!
Hi, I'm new to this site. I am 12 days post-op now following a mastectomy and immediate DIEP flap reconstruction. Still feeling a bit sore, tummy very tight, still a bit of leakage from the drain sites and new boob looking and feeling hard and bruised and not matching the other side at all yet (however I can see potential). Wearing control pants Bridget Jones style and shock absorber sports bra with anti embolism stockings - Drs orders for the next 6 weeks. Most uncomfortable especially in bed...

    New Gal
Hi, I have never been on any sort of site before but think this one will be a very good idea, especially for someone like me who knows nothing about nothing including blogs! Trying to take in what has been diagnosed, a secondary in the liver but no sign of the primary yet, the search starts next Tuesday. I doubt that I feel too different to any of you after the first week or so, just stacks of questions. As I have no idea where to start can anyone give me a prod in any direction please. Poppy Girl...

Christmas has once again come and gone.
Christmas has once again come and gone, the presents have been opened the turkey has been eaten, and we've all fallen asleep in front of the telly. I'm glad that I am able to report that our family meal was excellent, and that a good time was had by all, all 20 of us. The venue was wonderful and the chef did an excellent job, there was a pianist in the background, the waiting staff were excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful, even the children, some of which had been up since 4am, were well behaved...

    these tough times
Tis the season for giving, especially to those less fortunate than us, but it seems nobody is immune to the credit crunch, charity shops would seem unlikely to be affected by the credit crunch because people always have stuff they no longer need, right? well, that seems no longer the case, an article on the Daily Mail details the effect the credit crunch has had on Oxfarm shops: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1101055/Now-Oxfam-charity-shops-struggling-hard-consumers-hang-unwanted-clothes...
