New Gal

Less than one minute read time.
Hi, I have never been on any sort of site before but think this one will be a very good idea, especially for someone like me who knows nothing about nothing including blogs! Trying to take in what has been diagnosed, a secondary in the liver but no sign of the primary yet, the search starts next Tuesday. I doubt that I feel too different to any of you after the first week or so, just stacks of questions. As I have no idea where to start can anyone give me a prod in any direction please. Hi Rose,

I,ve got lots of questions too. I've got bowel cancer with liver and a small lung secondary. My treatment plan is chemo starting on monday then bowel op then I don't know what but a liver op is somewhwere along the line but it's a bit hazy. How is your journey progressing?

Welcome to newgal, you'll get lots of support here.

    Hi Rose,

As I said I know nothing about nothing. I have just written to you explaining what has happened since the beginning. Then I went to your profile to re-check if you had said how many children you have and now everything I had written has vanished!!

Let's have another go but briefly this time, I am probably pressing the wrong knobs.

Went into hospital at beginning of December with plenty of pain in right side. Initally diagnosed as an abcess about the size of a grapefruit but a biopsy showed it to be a metastasis, but site of primary not known. So far lungs, breasts, skin and uterus are ok and I had the colonoscopy and  gastroscopy on Tuesday and they were both clear. I suppose the kidneys might be looked at or the pancreas. There is some suggestion that the pancreas could be involved as I am an insulin dependant diabetic and the only one in the family. Doctors have said if it started there it could be the reason I am diabetic.  The only sympton I have had is that my tummy looks 8 months pregnant and out ot of proportion with the rest of me, had  trouble eating for some years and noticed that there was a hard lump just below my ribs. I had mentioned this to my GP at least 3-4 years ago and she just giggled and said Oh Dear, that is where all women put on the weight. She did not even open my coat to see what I ment by out of proportion. Another time I said I was worried about the size it was becoming so she suggested that I eat less and that was after telling her I could no longer eat a proper meal in one go!

If I were a meanie and knew that I had the time, I would sue the stethoscope off her but I shall have to be content with simply asking her why she did nothing.

Apart from my own experience I have very little idea about how these conditions effect others and suspect we are all probably different. I know that my biggest emotion apart from the shock is a feeling of loneliness so I really did enjoy your "Hugs" and send you heaps back in return.

I would love to know about you and although I now live on the south coast I am a Londoner, born in Paddington. I lived in Gloucester Terrace Bayswater, no, not the posh end, then Qeens  Park and after that to Wood Green finally ending up in Harringay. All my family are Londoners on both sides. My Mum was on the busses during the war at Cricklewood and I see that you are a driver. As I am 59 it is ok to say that I remember the first female bus driver in London. She was based at Palmers Green where the depot was next to a large pub called the Cock Tavern at the start of the North Circular Road.

Do I want to ask anything? you bet, just dont know what it is yet. Apart from still trying to get over the vomiting and bowel infection plus a really bad chest infection, all picked up in hospital I am quite well. A little trouble breathing as the grapefruit is pressing on my diaphram and lungs.

I think this will do for now otherwise I will rattle on for ages. At this time I have no idea what to expect or where to expect it from. Thanks for the info on the chat site which I will be looking at. I want to send this to you as a private message but can't see how to do that and suspect that I will lose this again if I wander off to have a look so I think it will be a mighty blog until I get the hang of things.

Sorry about the delay in replying, we are having problems with the computer not responding so it has to be reset, well that's what he told me.

hi there, i have colon/liver cancer.  I was treated for 3months for ulsers.  I had my 7th chemo on Friday, my turmours on left and right lobe are getting smaller.  I'm scheduled for 2 more chemo's then consider an op.  Stay positive and keep your faith.  Eat healthy and rest a lot between your chemo's.  I joined the site a week ago. We not alone, out there.  Be strong and I'm here whenever you need to talk.

    Luv,
