    Next Steps

Well it’s nearly Monday 5th November when I have my scan,
and I have managed to largely forget about cancer for the last 12 weeks as they
left me without any treatment (which I was pleased about).

Recurrent cancer in my pelvis feb 2012 chemo booked twice but
cancelled as I managed to get surgery to remove this in June. Scan August
showing lung mets 6 tiny ones and two others, left me 6 weeks to see if these
little ones are growing, next scan showed 2 larger ones had grown so this is
    definitely cancer...

  • Who to talk to now?
    My daughters depression
So what a day; after a period when we at least seemed to be holding some level ground my darling daughter tried to overdose this afternoon. Thankfully we caught her before she could do too much damage (all my medication is kept under lock and key) but a visit to A&E followed. She is now home but a proposed move to a secure school as a day patient now looks likely to be in patient. This is tearing us all apart; dearest wifey is predictably in pieces but holding it together well, I offer as much...

  • My Dad x
    My Dad

My dad was diagnosed with AML type 6 in April this year. And now this thing rules our life's.
We have now reached the 6 month mark , and dad is yet again back in hospital with another infection. Dad is 63 but could only have palliative chemo, and that was stopped 2  months ago due to not being of any help. He now no longer produces any white blood cell, and is just recovering from a rare skin condition called sweet syndrome.
We spend time with dad every day he has 2 grandchildren 8 and 11...

  • Tinklebell finds a lump..
Cramming and anxiety do not mix..
Saturday: So, I'm supposed to be cramming for my new SLT placement on Monday: CN nerves, the brain, motor neuron disorders and the upshot is: I can't concentrate. My eyes point in the right direction but will they move from left to right? NO. So, I did time chasing dust balls around the house with a Hoover that seems to be on strike, emptied the washing machine drain-thang (it was shouting E240..whatever that means) cut down the wisteria (a good name for my Blog but was already taken) and got stuck...

  • Bye Bye Dad
    Gonna miss you dad

One week ago today I lost one of the most precious things in my life..... my dad. It was 7 weeks since he was admitted into hospital til the day he died from a brain tumour and yet it seems like a lifetime ago. Not a day went by where I didn't go to see dad and now he is gone I am left with such a big empty hole in my life and my heart. People constantly tell you " it gets easier" but right now all I think is "how?" I lived down the road from my dad and even before he became ill I would see...

  • Tinklebell finds a lump..
    Ugh
The day after my 51st birthday (last friday) was the day that I found my lump. I'm not a stranger to lumps: many years ago I had two benign marbles removed, but this time, this lump seems so very different and scarey - it's flat, it's hidden, it's near my nipple, it's in the inside lower quadrangle of my breast and it's a wonder I found it at all. When I'm sitting I can't feel it/when I'm lying down I can, sort of thing. I dithered about going to my GP because (a) it didn't feel like my original...

  • I will win this!
    Chemo

Threw my rattle out of my pram on Tuesday when I had a phonecall to say my neutrophils weren't high enough to have chemo on Wednesday. That was supposed to be my halfway mark AND now I won't be finished with chemo by Christmas. I really really hate not being in control!!!

Have lovely friends though - one of them came round with a book called 'super dooper soups' which has recipes for all sorts of predicaments, e.g. tiredness, spotty skin, etc. etc. She also brought two litres of 'immunity...

    For My Eyes Only

    Dear Little Jen

Let this be a warning to you for being smug and proud of the things you achieve and thinking you were doing alright. (And i know you try to write positive stuff but you can't escape this one, can you.) So you're probably a bit tired, probably a bit below par, probably got too much to do. You were probably living on a high, after realising you actually know some lovely people.

But you weren't expecting that, were you? The express train from the tunnel of hell which slammed...

    Help Me

On Monday, the carer woke me and me mum up at 2am saying she has phoned a doctor because my nan was so wound up and wouldn't settle or sleep. The doctor checked her over and said it was a UTI and perscribed antibiotics. She had an hours sleep and we found the next day really difficult. Our GP came over and agreed with the other doctor and she was sent to a local hospital. They tested her water and said it was clear and a few hours later a doctor walked in, checked her chest then said I think it is...
