Still en-route to scraggy left kidney.

Christmas was fast approaching and I still hadn't heard anything. This time I phoned the urology CNS, no answer, so I left a message, I hate talking to a machine, makes me feel like I'm talking to myself. I arrived home from work to a message on my phone. Firstly an apology for not getting back to me sooner and to explain what they were thinking of doing next. The plan was for them to do a CT guided biopsy of the area. I was to receive an appointment within the next couple of weeks. Guess what the...

Third Stop - Scraggy LEFT Kidney ;)

Where was I? Oh yes, August 2015 :)

After numerous phone calls and messages to the Thyroid oncologists secretary I finally received the long awaited letter from them. Yes I thought, I may finally be able to reduce my medication and begin to feel somewhere near normal (normal for me that is haha ). I should really stamp that phrase 'don't count your chickens before they're hatched,' on my forehead. The letter started off well, a huge sigh of relief, even though my blood measurements wasn't excellent...

  • A Few Positives from the Oncology Waiting Room

So yesterday we arrive at the Chemotherapy clinic at 10.30 for out 11.00 appointment and take a seat in a very hot, over crowded waiting room................. notice near Nurses Station announces that our Consultant is running an hour late.................. so We sit and wait........... one poorly man didn't cope very well so he was carted off by the nurses to somewhere more suitable for his condition at that time and so we waited............ people were greeting each other like old friends asking...

    Next stop - Thyroid Madness

Just read through previous attempted blogs that I wrote and I don't know where my head was because I can't make head nor tail of them :)

The summer of 2012 was amazing, one of those proud mummy moments, (my son would curl up with embarrassment if he was to read that lol ). The local PCSO had nominated my youngest to be an Olympic torchbearer. Personally I didn't think he stood a cat in hell's chance but was so proud that somebody had found him worthy of a nomination. A typical 14yr old lad...

    First stop on my journey

Don't really get the gist of blogs so will just write and hope for the best :)

(Lung Cancer) I'd been feeling low on energy for a few months but put it down to me working 2 jobs 7 days a week and the fact I was nearing the dreaded menopausal age. I was coughing a lot and again I dismissed it to overusing my voice in both my jobs (I was a swimming teacher and a learning support assistant) plus having that frowned upon habit of dare I mention it, smoking. I was losing weight but nothing extreme...

    End of cycle 3.......and relax

Cycle 3 came to an end on Friday and I'm enjoying my week 'off'.

This one's been harder. The peripheral neuropathy I experienced at the start has gone but the fatigue is really draining at times. One day was spent dozing in the chair. I had no energy to do anything. I must learn to switch off but it's difficult. I feel that I'm wasting precious time sat on my arse when there's so much else to do. I forget sometimes that I'm ill. I have a very nasty disease and I'm taking some powerful...

  • These are our lives now
    The early days

So about two months ago my mum started showing symptoms of uterine cancer and after a month's worth of scans, exams and being screwed around by a horrendously negligent doctor, she was finally diagnosed at the start of this month with stage 4 bowel cancer.

At first, the doctors all insisted that the cancer was still curable despite showing signs of having spread to her lungs but after having a PET scan it could be seen that there were lesions all over both lungs, and on Tuesday this week we were...
