    Hair envy

I am sporting the shortest haircut of my life. My hair continues to drift out, but today a friend complimented me on my new style and it turned out she genuinely liked it and was not simply being encouraging. The plus side is that, as an older woman, I usually have to spend some time checking my chin and upper lip for hairs, but those seem to have gone first. It's the little things that make a difference! I have my scarves and hats ready. My wig is trimmed and good to go, and suddenly I am aware...

    Spinal stenosis

    Hi everybody

I have bone cancer which has caused my spine to crumble in a couple of places. In one I have spinal stenosis which is causing a lot of nerve pain which is driving me mad. I am booked in for an operation next week, on 19th. Is there anyone out there who has been through this and can offer me any tips or reassurance on the outcome.

    The Suspicious Consultant

    THE NEW NORMAL EPISODE 1

    THE SUSPICIOUS CONSULTANT

I love Gerona Airport.  It is small and perfectly formed with decent eating options, direct flights from Glasgow, and even if the last shuttle bus into the city centre sneaked away twenty minutes before the aforementioned flight from Glasgow landed, I am sure this was simply to keep the evening taxis in business.

We'd booked a Gerona hotel for one night and it was great too.  A beautiful cool room overlooking a bustling square full of families...

    Good to share

Am hoping after reading all the posts that I shall switch from generic letrozole to Femera to see if it makes a difference.  For past 9 months the joint/ muscle pains along with tingling, numbness in fingers and hot flushes have not decreased .   If Ibuprofen is taken for 2-3 days this does help but is not a long term solution.   Taking magnesium , vitamin d and have tried other products as read about but no noticable change.    It is such a help to see that other people have done the research into...

Hi all, no reply to my asking if anyone else has spinal stenosis caused by the bones crumbling trapping the nerves. My op is due on 19th but at the moment I am struggling with the pain. I would love to know if anyone else has had op and can reassure me that the pain will go. Also any tips to cope. Difficult to stay cheerful when it hurts to move.

  • My thyroid cancer journey
The puzzle is slowly coming together

After more tests and an MDT meeting I feel like everything that has been going on is slowly coming together now ready for my operation on the 17th.

Last week I had an ultrasound on my thyroid as, up to this point I had never had a scan or anyone look at it in detail. The doctor who scanned me was really thorough and took her time to explain everything to me. She showed me that the cancer was within the left hand side of my thyroid, as well as in 2 further lymphnodes.  These are both located...

    Can't take it anymore

After nearly 14 weeks in hospital I had my sarcoma removed last Friday, it was looking a success but unfortunately my skin graft hasn't taken so I need further surgery. I feel incredibly upset as I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am at my lowest point as I can't face anymore I just want to be home with my lovely family. I can't stop crying and I've never felt so hopeless and weak. I'm having a vac dressing fitted tomorrow and then will need a skin graft so long as the muscle...

    Moving on ....

On some days, I find it tiring just walking up the stairs in my own house. I am getting plenty of sleep so I am not tired in that way but my legs ache heavily as I drag myself up the steps. These are the same stairs I am use to constantly running up and down without even thinking.

Makes me think I would probably need a bungalow when I get older a stair lift!
I know this tiredness will not last forever and I was told it could be weeks or months after treatment before I get back to normal...

Wicked wicked woman for hiding under the duvet!!!

Thought when I started this that I would be upbeat and cheery- FAILED!!! So many apologies to all for not being consistent. Can't even remember what I said last time I was here- but quite a lot has happened since I last posted. SO HERE WE GO!!!

Had all my three weeks of I/V antibiotics - boring and to be honest don't think it did a thing - cos still getting chest infections (which I ignore until I feel I am on the top of Everest and oxygen is failing miserably) - allergic to so many antibiotics...

  • Daughter....what do i do?
What do i do? Mothers cancer has spread

Last year my mother complained of an ulcer in her mouth. I have her bonjela and thought nothing of it. Weeks went by and it Stoll hadn't gone away so i took her to the doctors. The doctor looked at the back of her throat and gave her some spray. Didn't even look at the ulcer on the tongue. The next day i asked if i could have a look. I took a lollipop stick and looked at the side of her tongue. Straight away i could see what it was. The ulceration had grown and was now protruding from her tongue...
