Well scan results followed by a biopsy confirmed recurrence stage ii Hodgkin's.
I have started my treatment GDP (gemcitrabine, dexamethasone, cisplatin). It all started a bit hectic tests to see if my body still worked normally kidneys, lungs, heart.
Insertion of a Hickman line, which they make sound so simple, local anaesthetic and then you are hidden whilst people talk about what they are doing, just making a small cut in your neck, now threading the wire down your vein, once all...
Decided it was best to remove this blog
Don't know if a blog? Is the right thing to do but I had 7 teeth extracted with a local anesthetic on Friday. All the back ones. And ever since I have been in complete agony on the bottom right hand side.I have only been able to eat one chocolate since having it done and I am struggling to do anything include sleep. I have tree all sorts of pain relief and the only thing that half works is my Short tech which I am down to 13 of and won't get any till Wednesday. I am being refused more unless its...
I thought I'd start a blog to stop me cluttering up Incurables with too many threads as my mind spews out bullshit at a remarkably fast rate.
Mixed emotions this morning, still haven't figured them out myself. The words "No you definately won't see Christmas" have rung through my head on an hourly basis since my Oncologist muttered them to me four days before my 55th birthday in late August.
I don't claim to have fought cancer. I haven't even really got into the whole thing...
Friday 23 December.
Two blogs in one day, because today has felt like two days, but I am home, with my wonderful husband and little dogs, I am so relieved to be at home.
It was a long morning, more intro antibiotics at 6am, blood tests and blood pressure, temperature. The blood pressure was slightly low but nothing to worry about the nurse said, but as soon as she said that my mind went into overdrive, I convinced myself I would be staying in for Christmas. I really need to stop overthinking...
So today was my appointment with the consultant clinical oncologist; who will be organising my chemoradiation. I was feeling very relieved to finally have this appointment as I felt that it marked the end of diagnostics and the beginning of treatment; my move from contemplation to action and the start of my journey to kicking cancers butt. However I came away feeling deflated, more waiting for appointments for more tests and uncertainties as to where my treatment may be.
The team, who included...
So I had my PET-CT results and my examination under anaesthesia today.
The latter involved leaving home at 6am, hungry, thirsty and looking awful (no make-up is not a good look on me) in order to have a general anaesthetic (sooo pleased it was a general as I needed a good sleep). Whilst under general my consultant checked my cervix, bladder and bowel for any signs of the cancer having spread.
I am so relieved to say that all results were as positive as I could have hoped for; yes I still have...
So I am writing this from solitary confinement (my bedroom), eating chinese (that was left outside the door by my hubby) whilst my hubby is looking after our children; as I am radioactive post PET/CT scan.
During the above procedure they basically inject you with radioactive sugar (hope I don't get a superpower from this, the power to sweeten tea is rubbish lol) and look at how your tissues react; as healthy and diseased tissue react differently.
The hope is that this scan will show...
So it has been 1 week, all my nearest and dearest know; which was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do especially tell my hubby and mum that I have an inoperable tumour; wouldn't wish that conversation on anyone although we all dealt with it better than expected.
My work now know, both current and future (that was tricky trying to explain to your new boss that you will still be starting but you need to get through chemoradiation first and telling your current boss that you...
So the next few days were a bit of a blur, I received an appointment for my MRI, I told close friends and family what was happening and I googled alot (stupid I know) which actually helped as I found 2 charities that were really informative, helpful and positive: Mummy's Star who support people affected by cancer during pregnancy or within a year of birth and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. I also found a closed support group on facebook who were also really supportive and encouraging with so many...
