Medical stuff and Life in General

    Hello :)

What have we been up to?  Are you even interested?  I do wonder if the blog has served its time.  Is it still necessary?

I guess while there is something medical happening there may be people following who are still interested.  We still exist beyond the medical happening in some form but it is disjointed.  We wrap ourselves around the space that is left, if that makes sense?  But whether that part of our journey is still relevant to readers is the question.  We are the human side of what happens...

  • Coping with Bladder Cancer
    Having a cystoscopy

I have had a fortunate life of good health up to now.  Never smoked, drank moderately and take plenty of exercise, mostly mountain walking with some cycling.  Out of the blue my urine turned brownish-red one day in January 2017.  I let this go for a couple of days and then went to my doctor, taking a sample of urine with me.  The doctor was able to test the urine and confirmed that I had blood in it.  He referred me to the hospital where I was given an appointment in a couple of weeks time.

    I was apprehensive...

Cycle 2 - A cautionary tale of constipation in the wilderness…

I have gone into this in a fair amount of detail as – to me – even having been around for 53 years, it was an experience shrouded in some mystery – but worth exposing – as it’s not something I would wish on anyone in the vicinity.... I have been delicate, but,  you have been warned….

I have no idea how long it had been building up for - possibly weeks – I thought I was “going” quite regularly... but clearly not enough… as I found out when everything ground to...

My breast cancer journey so far...

    Hi everyone.

I wanted to create this blog as I know it will help me to deal with my breast cancer diagnosis and I hope it helps people reading this re tips on how to stay positive and keep active ☺.

    About me

I'm a 42 year old mum of one who works full time and is a keen runner. Just before I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer I had run around 20 half marathons and 11 marathons. I probably took my health for granted as I hardly get any colds or illnesses and was very healthy. I...

    my chemo by my hubby

And as the chemo flows through my veins i have to say there are no pains.
As i sit here in my chair its good to see that no one stares,
these people are good & kind to me with all that i could ever need,
i have to do this all the time to make my life more fruitful like wine.
Even tho one day there will be sorrow, for now guess what i'll be here tomorrow,
I sometimes suffer with pains and cramps , but this is just circumstance.
Treatment is hard but i need it so, this life must go on & on you know...

NICE people should do nice things

life is unfair, I'm under no illusions

but this takes the custard cream

When i was first diagnosed it was a monumental shock to the system and I attempted to make sense of it all by Googling my prognosis, I promptly gave myself two to five years, which may or may not be the case, it had better not be because I've got a lot to do in a short space of time.

I stuck to tried and trusted sites and avoided the cancer conspiracy theorists wherever I could.

My daughter did however find a few comments...

    Biopsy #1
Monday 18 July 2016 saw another full day at the Hospital children's ward. My gorgeous boy had an ENT appointment on the Monday morning to have an endoscopy. The image was amazingly clear and showed a large mass, covering the base of tongue, left tonsil area and soft pallete area. By 2pm that afternoon he had an MRI scan done and was booked in for an emergency 2 hour Biopsy operation the following morning of Tuesday 19th under general anaesthetic. With the results due 10 days later on the following...

    Lump in throat Eshap script

Hi all, I'm all new to this and I was wondering if anybody has had the same scenario as me.

Bit of back ground info. I'm a 41 year old male, I was diagnosed last October with Hodgkin Lymphoma stage 2. I started feeling unwell beforehand with typical symptoms, weight loss, night sweats and fatigue. After having a PET scan it showed I had a large mass in my chest measuring 150mm, glands both in my chest and neck showing sinister activity.

Commence ABVD, had 2 cycles (4 treatments) then...

    Passing time...

    Saturday 25th February

It's been such a long day so far. I've been awake since 3.30am. I did get a little sleep last night but it wasn't great. I'm sitting here just passing time, it's pouring down and I'm fed up. I hate doing nothing, I'm bored, and hungry, I can't taste food so what's the point making any, plus my bones ache so I can't be bothered to stand in the kitchen to make any.

I just keep telling myself that this will wear off and I'll feel...
