So today I was told I had thyroid cancer.. I feel I knew this was coming after I visited my Dr's surgery last week and she said the results looked "pretty nasty" but nothing could have prepared me for the news.
I don't know how to feel, or react, and still so many unanswered questions, my lymph nodes have apparently been affected? what does this mean?
Well off to the QA for an ultrasound to confirm if I have secondaries as my GP & I suspect.
Going to be hard to let my Wife (Von) & Son (Chris) know if it's positive & with the increasing pain over the last week I fear the worst...
Seriously does this rollercoaster of emotions ever stop! Just as I think I have got it under control, i realise that's a long way off! In fact I'm starting to think that being very emotional is part and parcel of this disease! Yet another gift from the Cancer! It's so generous of you Cancer, but please no more gifts, you have given me more than enough!!
Yesterday I was hit head on with a huge dose of reality! That being, some of the special friends I have made while on this journey, aren...
I've had six great weeks since my RC, healing well and little pain. However, I'm due to get my histology results any time now and I have to say I am terrified. My bladder cancer was squamous and if it has spread I don't know what will happen. It doesn't respond to chemotherapy or radiotherapy so...
I try not to think about it most of the time because I don't know what the results will be but as the time approaches I can't help but be scared.
So that's what rock bottom feels like!
It came from knowhere, like a bolt out of the blue! One minute I was plodding along quite happily with the usual ups and downs, when BAM, suddenly I was in the bottom of a big dark hole and however hard I tried I couldn't get out! I tried so hard to see the light, to find that way out but it just wasn't there! For the first time in this entire journey I felt completely alone, scared and ready to give up!
I was going to work and feeling awful, then...
Clinic Appointment today was full on . So much information to take in. The consultant confirmed that they had removed 2 large tumors from My husbands tongue and lymph glands and sourround tissue as the cancer had broken through the gland wall. They did cut his lower jaw through and removed 3 teeth and a buried wisdom tooth.
The next step is the planning of the next treatment. 6/7 weeks of radiotherapy and 2 of chemotherapy simultaneously. The effects of which are going to be horrendous. I do...
I went to see my colorectal surgeon who managed to reassure me that the pains I am experiencing are not due to a regrowth. Phew! At least for a while we’ll see what my scan shows.
He checked for hernias. Apparently when the large bowel is removed it creates a large space where the small bowel can now move into. And with the removal of my rectum and anus there’s a possibility of hernias’. Fascinating or what!
Anyway after a number of ‘coughs’ he said that he couldn’t find any evidence...
Going back to see my surgeon today and hopefully get Histology results from my resection. Wish me luck!
After a two week holiday in Scotland I embarked on my fourth chemo session or "cocktail" as a fellow patient prefers to call it. Passed without incident other than the inevitable tiredness and the neuropathy. This is the last pre-op chemo. On being discharged from hospital my oncologist gave me a big hug and kiss on the cheek and said he was crossing his fingers for me.
Met with the surgeon on Monday. I'll have an endoscopy on the 27th and a CT scan on the 1st December. All being well surgery...
