  • It's not about me
    12th April

For the last couple of days I've been posting updates in the evening after seeing mum, today though, it's early afternoon. Just trying to make best use of my time, as I work full time and also have 2 teenagers. I've been backwards & forwards to the hospital most days in the last 2 weeks, it's not been too bad as the boys have been off school, but they went back today, luckily my husband works from home. They may be 13 & 17 but I hate the idea that I'm not there for them. A trait I've inherited from...

Blip 3 - “CANCER. CHANGES. EVERYTHING.”

I bet that got your attention, didn’t it?  Just wanted to make sure I got you 100% for this next pronouncement because this is really important.  Cancer really does change everything and in many, strange and interesting ways.  Like…

    Marmite.

Yep, I have fallen completely, overwhelmingly, salivatingly in love with Marmite.  WOW! And I mean, WOW!  I always did like Marmite so was never in the hate camp, but I am now totally addicted.  If this is food-porn, I want a full subscription to the Marmite...

  • How life changes after cancer
How I view the world in a whole new wa.

It’s taken a while for me to fully understand what my thoughts were and I feel so much differently after cancer but also the same. I think when you are diagnosed with cancer, your mind goes into complete shock. I know mine did I was seating not really knowing what to say to the doctor who diagnosed me other then of course worrying over my holiday whether I could go or not. I was allowed.

I used to get so stressed over the most silly things but not all, regrettably but most I let things go...

  • Melanoma I said to the dr. Oh by the way can you look at this mole.....
    Week 1

Ok. So this is as far as I've got.

Before I begin. I need to tell you I have trouble spelling so if the words are miss spelt I apologise now. However I felt that I needed to write this or I'm gonna emotional burst.

I had a biopsy 2 weeks ago and almost to the day my phone rang asking me to attend a hospital appointment to discuss my result with a specialist nurse.

The main thing I managed to get from searching on the internet was that any news was generally given by a Doctor. So...

  • It's not about me
    11th April

Another day, no biopsy. Don't know why, I asked but no-one available to speak to at that time. Mum not well again today, has been feeling dizzy all day, and she's developed a cough. She had a mixture of emotions this evening, tearful, frustrated, anger the lot. Upset, saying she can't cope with continually feeling ill. Frustrated at not being able to rub some body cream on her legs herself. Then anger, I can't even remember why, over something trivial I think.

    Have had a few close...

  • Terminal? I'll give be 'em terminal
    Coming to terms.

Well 12 weeks since I was told I had untreatable and terminal liver cancer, and boy has it been a ride. I've two sons 25 and 27, the younger lives in Germany, the older in my home town. The first person I contacted after I got the news was their mum ( we are not together), we agreed that we couldn't tell the older because we didn't want him to tell our younger son who lives in Germany and would panic, so we agreed that she would tell the younger to come home for serious family news. Oh boy, did I...

  • It's not about me
    10th April

Well the biopsy didn't go ahead after all today for some or other reason. Should be tomorrow....Another day to wait for results.  She had visits from my cousin and her husband earlier, both are nurses. Kerry at a hospice, Harry in cardiology at the hospital where mum is. It feels comforting that he is close by, even if it is on another ward. Everyone knows him apparently, and I joked that was why mum was having special treatment.

Mum had a really good day today and was sitting in the chair...

  • The Butterfly Who Flapped Too Hard
    It's been a while

2 months in fact apparently, since my last blog post.

There's been a few things happening health wise - you can see them on my profile if you're interested - but most of the time has been spent sleeping. I'm just SOOOOO tired at the moment, and I'm just not sure why.

Also, TMI moment coming up, I have the worst wind I've ever experienced before. And it's constant. It's to the point where it builds up to proper pain and discomfort, then I have to move around until there's a satisfactory...

  • It's not about me
    9th April

IIts now over a week since the devastating news, and things are moving on. Mum had an endoscopy on Friday, tomorrow she is having a biopsy . Will take about a week for results, but am under no illusions, we're not expecting good news. That's not being a pessimist, I'm just realistic. Cancer in different organs, swelling where lymph nodes are located - can't be anything other than bad news.

Mum's had good days and bad this week, so my emotions have took a battering. I desperately want...
