My Dad lost his fight for life and passed away Monday night at 7pm.
And in my good brother's words: My Dad's aim throughout his life was to put a smile on the faces of all he'd meet - something he always managed to do :) . I'll miss you Dad & I'll try to keep smiling x

Hi all, had my third treatment last week, and so far not a tremendous amount different. Though having said that, my self-ratings for fatigue have definitely slipped a ranking... I am still going to work, but just feel maybe slightly rougher round the edges if you see what I mean? Chemically taste - tick, got that back a bit. Slight weariness which may just be to do with being fed up with the chemo process! Got Groshong scheduled for 24th - but aargh they want me for a pre-assessment on the same day...
We have finally arrived at the time that I hoped would never come, on Friday I was told that dad was stopping his treatment as the results of the last scan were bad - 6 months if we are lucky they are now predicting.
I don't know what to say or do and can't stop crying. Every time I look at hime I just cannot comprehend that by the end of this year I will no longer have him!
Nothing seems right, can't work, can't be at home, can't be with mum and dad!!! what the hell am i supposed...
This is mostly about my experience of seeing my husband of nearly 50 years who was a big active man start to diminish because of bowel cancer.
We were so thankful when he had a life-threatening bowel obstruction operated on under emergency conditions even though were were in North Cyprus on holiday at the time. The obstrution (2 cancerous tumours) was removed plus 13 lymph nodes, with a bowel resection. Fortunately he didn't need a colostomy bag as the obstruction was higher up in the bowel....
Well it was Good and bad news!
The wounds healing nicely, had a bit more fluid taken out relief!
Path results- Grade 2 stage 2A invasive ductal with 3/13 lymph nodes positive. Oestrogen receptive so Tamoxifen for 5 years after chemo and radio.
The bad news was the margins were too close so have to have more surgery to take a bit more tissue rrggghhh! As a day case i think so not too bad!
The good news is that because of need for more surgery it delays the chemo so i will definatley be able to...
….again! If you read about the evil endoscopy you will remember that teeth have been my Achilles’ heel since I was about seven. Everything is out to get my teeth, it’s a conspiracy I tell you!! Carefully cleaning my pegs the other morning and a quick glance in the mirror revealed a line of manky looking tombstones. Yuk! My gums have done a runner, my teeth are covered in nasty splurges of yellowness thanks to medicated mouthwash and they look like they’d really like to leave home...
My hair has not gone yet, although there is a crawling sensation across the scalp which I suspect does not bode well.In any case I thought I'd test out the wig(long, reddish brown) on the school run.Of course I'm really bad with hair real or false so I just kind of plonked it on with a baseball cap on top. Most mums were really kind about it(the ones that knew). The ones that didn't know, and also the kids, clearly thought I'd gone mad(My normal hair is a mousy bob).In any case I'm glad that's done...

my dad got diagnosed with advanced liver cancer and bowel cancer, bowel was first 2months ago, large tumour, liver found later, now has temp stoma awaiting the go ahead for chemo. i look after him every day now, as well as my 11month old boy -who has got me through most times with a smile-he has gone down hill very quickly from the extremly active man he used to be. hard looking after him. however doing the...
