I have been shielding since 21st of March but I got a call from my go saying I have to stay in until June 30th

  • 12 weeks was the starting point.

I have a different type of blood cancer but I am now on day 74 (15th March) and up in Scotland our First Minister told all those who are shielding that the guidelines will be reviewed over the next few weeks so nothing has changed.

Word is that people will be let out of shielding based on type of blood cancer and/or other health conditions and this will be done assessed by our clinical teams or GP....... hold tight as we are not out of the woods yet and definitely not up North.

There are so many conflicting things. I started shielding on 21 March but not received anything about extending until 30th June.

I also got told and read too that some people received texts last week about coming out of shielding. Anyone here get a text?

  • Seen this on the Blood Cancer UK FB page.

  • Hi Ken,

In a recent briefing I heard that we shielded must stay that way at least till the end of June.

    Best wishes
