Hi all
just a very quick question, and apologies if this has been asked before.
The detail concerning being able to get an exemption certificate for prescriptions for cancer seems a little vague.
Most descriptions I’ve seen say “have been diagnosed with cancer AND receiving the following” followed by a list of treatment options.
I’m not yet receiving treatment for my CLL, but do need to buy regular medication for another unrelated condition, that is not covered by the exemption.
Does having CLL that is not yet being treated allow me to apply for a prescription exemption certificate?
Any help or knowledge would be appreciated.
regards
Darren
Hi again Darren s as far as I know once you have a cancer diagnosis you should get free prescriptions…… although I am in Scotland so prescriptions are free.
Talk with your GP or your hospital team as they need to sign the exemption for you.
Thanks my GP has proven useless through this whole experience but I will check. My next consultation is early September so I will ask him as well.
Sorry to hear that your GP was not great….. my GP was great and immediately signed my exemption way back in 1999 when I was first diagnosed with my type of NHL.
