Has anyone ever received a letter from Macmillan cancer support, saying that "your case is now closed" "unfortunately as you have not received treatment at one of our hospitals within the last 6 mths,we are unable to assist you on this occasion ". I sent of all the relevant info, hoping that someone would help me with form filling for U/C and or PIP. I called the advice line but they couldn't help me. I have CLL and on active monitoring. A bit confused and despondent.
Hi again Lindylou2 I am sorry to hear this…..
When I had to look for financial advice I have to say that our local hospital ‘walk in’ Macmillan/Citizens Advice Centre were very helpful as was our local Maggie's Centre.
I sent of all the relevant info, hoping that someone would help me with form filling for U/C and or PIP.
Based on the info above….. have you actually sat with someone and had a benefits review done?
I've not sat with anyone for a benefits revue, this is why it seems odd to me that I have been "cancelled ".
Ok it sounds like you have fallen through the cracks in the system
Check this link > Local Macmillan Support to see what ‘walk in’ support there is in your area.
Also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Also check for a Citizen’s Advise Office https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk
I'll contact the cancer liason at my doctors, tomorrow, see what they think. Thankyou for your prompt answer and advice. I appreciate it very much.
