Hello,

I have joined this group for a bit of support and to allow me to just type out what's happening and ask some questions that I don't really expect answers to but feel writing it down will help me.

My mum has breast cancer in 2013, which fortunately was caught early and was not too severe so she only required radiotherapy. I was having a dreadful time at University whilst this was happening, and ended up making myself ill due to stress of exams, a break up and then my mums news.

Everything was fine until February 2019 when Mum started having toilet trouble and in March was diagnosed with bowel cancer, although I think its actually rectal cancer. I can't remember what stage it was, but she needed radiotherapy, surgery to remove part of her colon and then 4 rounds of chemotherapy. During this time, I had emergency eye surgery due to a detached retina and have lost vision in one eye, and required further surgery in December on my other eye.

Mum went for a routine follow up CT a couple weeks ago and last Tuesday was told the scan showed a nodule in her right lung. I have had a complete meltdown after hearing this as I know secondary cancer can at times be untreatable. We have to wait 3 months for another scan to see if its grown at all. If it has, it means more surgery to remove it and will delay my mum's ileostomy reversal.

I am just worried about what treatment options might be available to her due to what she's already been through, the current COVID situation and the fact she hasn't really finished treatment for the colon cancer!

Thank you for giving my a space to get this all down in writing, I think I probably need to seek help from my GP to help me process all of the above.
