Hi everyone. On Thursday my mum was diagnosed with cancer in her lungs and lymph nodes. She has had a biopsy done and we are waiting for results they have said they will take 7-10 days, we will then find out what strain it is and what stage it is at.

She is at home now and fairly comfortable but so so tired. She has only been awake maximum of three hours so far today after sleeping all night. Does this sound OK? She has no energy at all :(

I need some hope that she's going to be able to have treatment and be okay, its hard to be positive when we are just waiting for results. She turns 52 on Saturday!

Love to all xxx

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. It must be an incredibly hard time for the whole family and it's natural that you have lots of questions about treatment, etc.

Could I recommend that you also join the lung cancer group as this will give you the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with a similar diagnosis to your mum.

To join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
