Hi there guys, apologies if this is not the right place.
My father's prostate cancer has spread to his bones in his back so they had requested extra scans. He was at the hospital from 10am and due to his pain he can't walk very far, so from 10am - 5.30pm he didn't eat and was very upset at this point.
During the scans, because he can't lie back straight, the nurses accidentally hurt him whilst trying to position him.
Is there anyone in the hospital who should look after him if myself or other are not around? He's a very frail man who was in and out of scans.
Maybe there isn't people to do that, but was wondering if I could notify someone next time to help him out?
Thanks
Dear
you raise a very important issue, how do you safeguard a frail patient when you are unable to attend hospital appointments with them. Is your father still receiving active treatment or has he been referred to palliative services within the hospital for extra supportive care. They may be able to provide you with some assistance including help with his pain control which they have great expertise in. I would also explore this issue with your father’s general practitioner as I suspect there is something that can be done to support him but it might be hard to find the route to it by yourself.
