My mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year stage 3 she had chemo and radiotherapy and got the all clear we all thought this was the end of it December last year they found a shadow on her lung and when they did A scan found 2 small tumours on it the doctors have give her one to 2 years to live she has been treated with target therapy and we have to wait until the end of may to see if the treatment has worked and if it has spread anymore I'm absolutely devestated I can't stop thinking about it its really effecting my day to day life I have stopped going out and socialising and just sleep all the time to forget about it I really don't no how I'm going to feel if it comes back it has spread more has anybody else had a diagnosis like this or can relate thanks

  • Hi and welcome to the community; sorry to hear about your mum, cervical cancer is not quite our experience but one thing we see across the board here is that people ften outlive a prognosis - they are generally based on older data and can only be an average. It might help you to look at our pages on I'm looking after someone with cancer, especially the emotional effects many of which I am sure you will recognize.

I know for me dealing with Janice;s cancer the living with less stress course I did was a lifesaver - the mindfulness helps me cope, the breathiing exercises are great for help me cope. My wife's cancer became stable with treatment and we have been living with cancer now for 6 years.

Do post on here to make contact with us, perhaps look for some face-to-face support using our in your area tool and remember you are welcome to ring the helpline too.
