I'm running myself ragged trying to pack the house up on my own as I'm in the process of moving. Then, just at the stage I'd emptied the contents of the attic onto my bed for sorting I went to the kitchen and discovered a leak pouring water across the floor!
Cue a call to insurance emergency cover .. I was doing well till the lady asked if I had anyone to help me. At which stage my tiredness, worry and emotions as I explained I had no one as my husband had recently passed away all combined and I turned into a snivelling, weepy wreck down the phone. I'm usually quite together but the awfulness of realising everything is down to me now was overwhelming.
The plumber turned up some hours later at 9pm by which time I'd almost frozen from no heating, with a load of snow outside, but I had cleared the bed enough to get in it.
Reality of life without your partner comes up and slaps you in the face when you least expect it. I miss him so much x
One day you will recall this maybe with a whistful smile. But not now.
We had a similar incident where a pipe became loose and I just fixed it after a bit of running around, Lizzy just said "Thank god you were here" I never even thought twice about it..
It's not just about missing company, companionship but goes so much deeper..
You will be ok I'm sure..
Thanks for your hugs and words of support.
I did tell the plumber I wanted a Blue Peter Badge. Turning the stopcock off made the problem worse as that is where the leak was, so in order to divert the leak from going down the back of the units I cut the base off a 2 litre coke bottle, then made a slit so that it would squash at an angle into the hole at the back of the cupboard. Voila!...the water ran into a tub and not into the back of the units to seep into the floor. I was quite proud of my ingenuity amidst my tears.
