My dear mum passed away on Saturday night from pancreatic cancer, which was only diagnosed in August this year - 7 weeks after my father had passed away from a heart condition. I just feel numb and ‘heavy’. How long does this feeling last?
Elizabeth,
So sorry for your loss!
My mum passed away a few months ago. I have found that the hole she left never gets filled but you find new ways to adapt. You’ll be frustrated as life goes on the same way it always has but you have changed dramatically! Allow yourself to feel. Never feel guilty about how you feel. The heaviness will lift and you will be a changed person with more strength!
I have found it helpful to talk about my mum in everyday conversations to normalise the topic with my friends so that they never feel they can’t bring her up. I want her legacy to live on.
remember everyone grieves differently and unfortunately there is no dummies guide to grief! Just allow yourself to feel whatever you feel even if that is nothing. It’ll catch you at some random times.
sending strength xx
Clara
