I have to tell my oncologist tomorrow whether I am accepting Oxy and 5FU chemotherapy for bowel cancer. I am distraught at the possibility of loosing my hair. Has anybody lost their hair after this type of chemo?
The cracking of the skin, sickness, tiredness and possibility of nerve damage too - the list is endless.
Has anybody been able to work at least part time during this type of chemo, and have you been able to drive a car.
Does anybody think alternative medicine is a good idea. I am awaiting...
I am just writing this blog as a bit of a cathartic outlet if that makes sense?
I have had nearly 10 months of treatment and it has been very tough, am glad I didn't know I was on for treatment for that length of time in the beginning. There have been many complications and hold up's along the way and it feels strange to know that it will be complete next week!
Just can't believe it has all happened to me really, this morning my Relay for life pack arrived and there in front of me was my...

I had noticed increased frequency of defecation from early in April 2012. But what finally drove me to see my GP was the sight of a little bit of blood after I went to the toilet. So I saw my GP on 11th May and had a finger up my bum. He didn’t say anything about a lump at the time – only mentioned that my prostate was enlarged. I was referred to the colorectal team at Kingston hospital as he said this was the standard procedure with patients who had had a change in toilet habits...
mum if you were here you'd show me the right way
you'd tell me how to feel and what things i should say
you'd help me through the tough times when things were turning sour
you'd always be right her beside me in my darkest hour
people say they love you and this you cant be sure
until they show the meaning of the word is oh so deep and pure
you open up your heart when you think its due
just to be dissapointed when they decide that its untrue
you love with all your heart until...
Where do I begin?
My lovely man finally found his rest and truly deserved peace. And I don't know how I will ever make sense of all this, or if I will ever begin to forget the awful awful nights.
I never saw it coming, though I 'knew.' He waited till I'd left the room. Death is never how you expect and I have seen a few deaths now. As someone said today, Well, you are an orphan and a widow in the space of a year.
I cannot begin to comprehend the aggression of my loved one's cancer...

You can read it at www.topicofcancer.com Please visit it and share your experiences: - mine have been bad and good, the good probably outdoing the bad in the long term. There have been funny times (Mr Daz the Gynaecologist) and anguished times: My daughter was ten when I was first diagnosed, and since...
