Anxious for Husband with 2 nodules in neck

Less than one minute read time.
Hi, My husband has had 41/2 years of clear check ups until yesterday ad the consultant wanted a ultrasound biopsy taken for a small lump or nodule in his neck which is a bit tender, has anyone else experienced this? We are obviously very anxious again , any advice very welcome Thanks

    Hi Bobt,

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling anxious, it sounds like all this uncertainty is adding even more strain.

Are you a member of our gullet cancer group? If not, I would suggest you take a look, and if you feel it might help, post your question there where it will be seen by others who have been through a similar experience.

If you would like to talk things through, you can also give our Supportline a ring, on 0808 808 0000.  The team are on hand to support you on any worries you may have, be it practical, emotional or medical.

    Hope this helps,

    Laura

Hello Bobt.   I'm sorry that your husband has been through treatment for throat cancer all those years ago and now has the worry of this lump / nodule biopsy. Well it's almost five years since I had extensive surgery / radiotherapy for floor of mouth cancer and I still get worried if anything feels ' different ' at all.

I developed a small nodule type lump on my neck, but as I'd had a bilateral neck dissection it was put down to scar tissue / nerve ends fusing together .... it's just above my scar line. I also had a tongue biopsy at the two year mark as it wasn't healing too well from the radiation ( result was mucositis ulceration ) but the point being that they have to check these things to make sure.

So I understand how anxious you are both feeling just now, but try not to hit the panic button yet .... easier said than done, I know ! If it will help any, we have a Head and Neck Cancer group here on the site which you can join for help and support. Take care and best wishes for a clear result.
