Old scars- neck, wrist and stomach
Just thought I'd do an update on the original operation scars as you kind of forget about them during all that comes with RT. I have been applied a gel like cream called dermatix since the scars lost the scabs. This is pretty expensive gel, but came on prescription. There is a website on how it is supposed to work. I think it's been pretty good stuff. I didn't apply it to my neck during RT but have continued on the wrist and stomach. The actual patch on my wrist has flattened down really...

To have chemo or not to have chemo - that is the question

I haven't updated my blog in a while.  I've been away for a couple of short trips - one with hubby and one with a group of friends - but it was hard for me to enjoy myself as I've been feeling increasingly unwell.

Yesterday we went to Christies.  I won't bore you about the 1.5hr wait for a pointless blood test, or the 2hr wait to see the consultant, or the 1hr wait at the pharmacy, or the fact that we didn't see the consultant at all but one of his registrars.  Actually, his registrars...

  • I'm Getting There
    What Is going on

Today. I should have been attending UCHL. to be assessed for a Cystectomy. all week I have been waiting for a phone call or letter confirming this appointment. none came. so I took It upon myself to find out why.

My god! what a fiasco. I phoned UCHL to find out why I had not been Informed about the appointment. they had never heard of me. they put me through to the clinic. they had never heard of me. after two hour's of being passed from one department to another I gave up. I sat back and had a...

    Two weeks into recovery

It's two weeks since treatment stopped and I'm feeling now that I'm seeing the small steps to recovery now. The phlegm has definately reduced but I do wake up needing to have a good cough and swill my mouth out. Some days I wake up and my tongue has really swollen. Last night I woke at 4am and had a voltarol tablet and it seemed much better when I woke up this morning.

The Wiltshire farm food meals arrived yesterday and I completely cocked up cooking the first one. But after some tweaking...

  • Non Hodgkin Lymphoma - One Careful Owner
    Gnawing my brain
I think perhaps it was inevitable that I would eventually be knocked into an uneasy fear about cancer but I've been so bloody positive I thought I was beyond it. Apparently not. Yesterday evening was most notable for the ugly consuming tears that interrupted my cheerful face for much longer than my head thought was tolerable; my head is still banging in protest. I saw Hairy smoking at work and when questioned he lied and said he wasn't smoking. I was irritated about the lie and exasperated that...

  • Me and my Lovely wife's journey
HMRC more frustration. no wonder people top themselves.

Well went to CAB last Friday, where we actually found out what had happened, where the CAB rang on my behalf. In their wisdom they stopped my payments when I turned 60. They admitted that I am entitled, but because they have now closed the record, I must now make a new claim. Which they are unlikely to back date the 3 months + to my birthday. Result I have lost 2 and a half months money.

Gets better, they now want all their money back 1200+, and on only 800 a month take home, that will be interesting...

  • A family's Journey
    Acknowledging
So, today is the first day of my step dad's diagnosis. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that they think has spread to his liver. I'm unsure why I'm writing this blog, I'm hoping that it will help me cope with this situation so that I can be strong for him and the rest of my family. At the moment I'm just really angry, I keep asking myself why do bad things happen to good people? Anyone else experience this anger and upset... How did you deal with it? He has an appointment this week to discuss...

  • I'm Getting There
    The battle continue's

I did not think I would be back here. I actually thought I was cured. I was wrong. I saw my consultant last Thursday. she told me that the dead tissue they had found was In fact a tumour. four TURBT'S IN TEN MONTH'S. six week's of radiotherapy. all a waste of time. I agreed at the outset to have my bladder removed. now they are talking about salvage surgery. the removal of my bladder. If this had been done at the outset everything else would have been avoided. the cost of the treatment's I've endured...

    Recovery day 11

The phlegm has definitely reduced a lot. I haven't had to use the spitting glass all night. It's still thickish in my mouth but more saliva like in texture.

I ordered some puréed and soft meals from Wiltshire farm foods yesterday that arrive on Thursday. I did try some fish pie on Sunday and soup yesterday but it was quite hard work.

I feel as though I have less energy this week than last week. Maybe because I'm not managing to eat as much.

    Was quite down yesterday, something...
