Two weeks into recovery

1 minute read time.

It's two weeks since treatment stopped and I'm feeling now that I'm seeing the small steps to recovery now. The phlegm has definately reduced but I do wake up needing to have a good cough and swill my mouth out. Some days I wake up and my tongue has really swollen. Last night I woke at 4am and had a voltarol tablet and it seemed much better when I woke up this morning.

The Wiltshire farm food meals arrived yesterday and I completely cocked up cooking the first one. But after some tweaking to the cooking arrangements I managed to eat a good 1/3 of it and they are big portions. That filled me up for most of the day. I have lost quite a lot of weight the last couple of weeks. Mainly what I put on going into radiotherapy though. The Dr said I did well without any feeding tubes, but it was never offered as an option so I've not really had any choice than to keep trying to eat.

I'm quite conscious of my speech now and find I am excusing my self to everyone I meet new. I also get quite frustrated with my husband when he doesn't understand me. Got a follow up appointment next Thursday so hopefully there will be more improvements by then.

Hello DLC ... two weeks on now and the radiation should have well and truly peaked now allowing your recovery to slowly progress. The thick mucus should be diminishing more, too ... although the swollen tongue may last some time, I find it's a day to day thing now.

I hope that the Wiltshire Foods are enjoyable - yes, follow the cooking instructions carefully as I made a mistake on my first meal, too ! The soft sausages with onion gravy and veggies is rather nice and I have a soft liver and bacon casserole meal to try yet : )

Please try not to worry about your speech too much, mind you I'm the same as I keep apologising for mine, sigh : (   It will improve with time though, take care x
