This is Ailsa’s fiance, Nick. Ailsa had started writing this blog entry, which she was never able to post. As promised, I am doing this now, and have added some notes of my own at the end. Ailsa wanted to share her experience, so I think it important that this is posted.
I haven’t written a blog for a while. Since the last one I had my final dose of chemo, that was on the 4th January. After that it was time for a scan to see how things were going. Since we got encouraging scan results half...

Well things have moved on a bit and now I am getting frightened. Got some pills for myself but have been unable to take them because if I do, I can't drive. It's now Wednesday. On Saturday I called the oncology help line as Pete was so ill. He was taken in to hospital as an emergency, 8 hours to be admitted, spent 36 hours in a hell-hole called the Acute Medical Unit, a windowless chaotic basement. They eventually shoved him out of there on to a surgical ward so they met their target but it didn...
So yesterday i started back on chemo, the TIP treatment this time, due to me having blood clot where my pic line was last time they have opted to just try staying on the canulars, but that seems to be changing already as veins are so bad from the chemo before I've already had it changed 3 time due to pain and swelling, i have requested a pic line and explained i didn't get a blood clot just because of the pic line it was when a nurse came to my house and left the valve off when she left i got an...
I was called back for a second breast screening, didn't think for one minute that it could be serious.....but it was. And so my cancer journey begins.
When the results came back it was confirmed - I went into shock, suddenly my mouth went completely dry and my cheeks flushed - I felt red hot. So, this is what going into shock is like.
Next..... appointments made for further test, so much to ask. The only thing I knew about breast cancer is that it killed my Aunt.
Keeping a...

I am often talking about life and the language of cancer, and laughter, so here is a stab at a well known song… Because “when you know the notes to sing, you can sing most anything?”
Apologies to Songwriters R. RODGERS and O. HAMMERSTEIN
Let's start at the very beginning,
A very good place to start?
When you read you begin with A B C,
When you're sick you begin with,
"Oh not me", "oh not me"
The first three thoughts
Just happen to be, "oh not me"...
My beautiful, wonderful Pops lost his short fight with a CNS lymphoma on 12 November 2015 and even though he was 79 years old and had a fantastic fun filled life he still had more to give. He was daft as a brush and gave the best bear hugs ever. I miss him so much. I would give anything for one more bear hug
Just feels like everything is going downhill at the moment. Three weeks ago tomorrow, Pete had his CyberKnife treatment on his brain mets. Two days before that we had a lovely walk with the dogs, only 40 minutes along the canal but really lovely. A few days after the procedure we went out for a quiet drink, only for an hour. Since then he has not left the house unless for medical appointments. In three weeks he has become virtually unable to walk, in fact I am not sure we will get him up the stairs...
