  • My cancer journey
    A small journey

I have to honest I've never written a blog before although a lot has been written about me but  not connected to my cancer, but I would just like to share a little of my journey with you.

I am the mother of nine children ( well most are adults now) and very sadly one of my sons was murdered 9 years ago in south east London I will share the story of Jimmy with you one day.

In July 2016 I happened to go to the toilet and passed some blood and panicked but went to my doctors and to cut...

  • How cancer makes me feel
    How cancer feels for me

wish that I could go back in time and maybe not say the things I did or wish I had done .

I wish I could get rid of these feelings of sadness that eat at me every day I wish they would just go away .

I wish that I could feel better and not feel so lost inside .

I wish I had said what I meant at times instead of keeping it all in .

I wish this cancer would go away and I could feel like me today and everyday .

Instead I feel alone and sacred of what is to become .

I am not scared to die and sometimes...

    Visitors...... and housework

By no stretch of the imagination can I be called a clean freak. Before I got cancer, some/all of my house constantly looked like a bomb had hit it - but I knew where everything was if I needed it. The living room would get a clean down if I knew people were coming, and the kitchen would be fully gutted if I needed to bake for anything. But other than that, things just ticked over and were cleaned as and when it bugged me too much, or the landlord was inspecting, etc etc.

    Since cancer, things are...

    Crosswords and Disappointment

Happy Easter to all of you :)

It's early evening and I'm still sitting in the hospice so I thought to stave off boredom (there is nothing on TV, I'm stuck watching a marathon of Who do you think you are? currently) I'd bring you bang up to date with me and tell you about my latest London trip.

I received agreement from London that they were happy for me to travel down and be seen and hopefully if it was deemed I was well enough I would receive treatment.  So the hospice were glad that...

  • Partner with lung cancer
    Recent diagnosis

My partner suffered headaches for 6 weeks. Was told he had bells palsy on the left side of his face and was admitted to hospital. 5 days later we was told he had lung cancer which has spread to his skull base.

Everything changed in seconds, our life will never be the same again. He cant drive, he cant work, he cant play golf. This cancer has taken over our life already.

At the moment we are waiting on the MDT meeting so we know exactly what we are dealing with.

    He is in so much...

  • Why Not Me?
Axillary Clearance - Pain and Numbness

I had an axillary clearance - nodes out under right armpit - on 8th April, following a WLE/SNB on 14th March where 2 of the 3 nodes taken out for biopsy were flecked with cancer.  It's now a week and two days later and my right arm feels like it is being gripped by Edward Scissorhands and I have this twitching burning feeling every so often that really hurts.  I am back taking the cocodomol for pain relief to try and take the edge off of it, and I am just hoping that it gets better and doesn't...

  • The Butterfly Who Flapped Too Hard
    The struggle is real

Figured I'd run a few updates up, fill folks who are interested, or just bored, in on where I'm at and what's been going on with me.

So, I had another dose of RAI on the 3rd of this month, and was stuck in hospital until the Thursday afternoon. That's where the 'Superpower watch' posts came from. I was in a really bad place going through that, so detaching myself from what I was going through, looking at it from a sci fi scientists point of view was how I coped. However the descriptions...

  • Why Not Me?
    Moving Goalposts

I had an awful day today with a few sorry tears. I feel so sad for my husband when he's sitting watching me cry, I mean, what can he say or do? I was in pain from the clearance - sore, stiff and burning - and I also felt full of doom and gloom about the now, the next and the future.

I'm praying that there are no more positive lymph nodes and trying my hardest to be positive, but sometimes it is the hardest thing.

    Sorry for being miserable xx

Ultra radical surgery for ovarian cancer

Hello, my name is Lin and I have recently been diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.  It was a real shock, I am 69 yrs old and up until 6 weeks ago I have been fit and healthy, so I am still in shock as is my husband and family.  Everything is happening quite quickly, I have had scans, biopsies taken, ecg, bloods and a fitness test, I have also had an initial meeting with a surgeon.  He was a lovely man and was very patient, explaining what was happening in my body and what they could offer me in the...
