I think I've always had a fairly good attitude to my body, I mean once it's got clothes on and a splash of makeup I don't scrub up too bad, I'm not as glamorous and beautiful as my daughters, they seem to have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves from this technique to that oh and the good old Snapchat filters, back in the 80s I made do with a good old perm and some electric blue mascara.
I'd say after 46 years it has been through the mill a bit, but I would describe myself...
So this is me, Georgina age 46 mum of two amazing daughters.
My journey starts some time ago, 1994, I struggled to give birth to my eldest daughter as my cervix wouldn't dilate, no big deal I seem to recall. This led to my first smear and abnormal cells being detected, again no big deal...
Off I went to my local hospital and had a LLETZ procedure, again no big deal, I seem to recall it was quick, a little painful, the consultant commented I had a sensative cervix. I don't recall what...
Just as I got my head round being pencilled in for this Friday I got a call saying it won't happen and I'm booked in for the 7th October, two weeks later on the Saturday. They are booking the staff cos they don't normally work Saturday. I hope that 'weekend effect' is not true. Now I have nearly three weeks to get ready. I have put in for a Macmillan grant. I hope it comes through. It would make all the difference.
I had the debulk of my palate above the obturator. Two weeks since the op and I'm recovering well.
The eye surgery has yet to be arranged, but I'm now having second thoughts...
Should I go for the BIG debulk (9+ hour op) which would include the left eye removal but also would take out as much as possible of the cancer throughout my sinuses? This would also require reconstruction of the missing cheek bone, probably using some bone from my thigh.
I'm undecided and will discuss with maxfax surgeon...
For the first time since I was told I needed a total excision biopsy, I feel back to normal as far as emotions are concerned. I have felt this when being busy socialising and walking. But this morning just pottering on my own, it came to me how relaxed and grounded I feel and happy too. My mind is now concentrating on normal, everyday things while pottering about rather than having thoughts of cancer lurking there in the background.
By next week I should be able to exercise fully once more, garden...
Hi guys. I haven't been in for a bit. I've been trying to get a date for my op. The operations coordinator told me last week that I would be having the operation mid October. That's too long! My cancer is particularly aggressive. Besides, I've had the pre-op already and I've been given the tablets I have to take the night and morning before I go in, to prevent acid reflux during the op. I also have three appointments tomorrow; one with the anaesthetist for the bike test and the other two are with...
