Hi everyone,

After being told by my surgeon that at some point through my treatment I would be prescribed Tamoxifen & because I take several other medications which include antipsychotics, antidepressants & tablets for anxiety, I decided to research whether my other medications would work well with Tamoxifen & the side effects of Tamoxifen.
There are lots of medical journals & research papers that can be accessed on the internet so I spent some time researching & found most of my information on...
I’ve been meaning to do an update for a few weeks now while it was still November. My scan was set for 6/11 and in October I felt a lump come up in my groin, I was sure it was a lymph node near to the one that was removed in my groin in March. I pointed it out a week later at my oncology appointment and as my scan was 2 weeks later and nodes can go up and down I just went with the flow of waiting for the scan. I did some walking two days running of about 11k steps and the next day I woke up...
As the end of November draws in so does the end of Mouth Cancer Awareness Month which takes place every November in the UK. To mark this, we have asked our Community Champion chris2012 a few questions about his experience of being diagnosed with mouth cancer. Why not take a look through Chris’s story? When were you first diagnosed with mouth cancer?
When were you first diagnosed with mouth cancer?
My name is Chris I am aged 58 and live with my wife and son plus our two mini Dachshunds.

The day of the operation; lumpectomy & lymph node removal, I went through a mixture of fear & anxiety, I cried lots & got myself into a bit of a state but also wanted to push forward & get it over & done with; in all honesty the operation was the easy bit, the radioactive dye injection beforehand was painful, but overall, after waking up from the operation, I felt fine, a little drowsy, but virtually pain free (morphine is a wonderful medicine).
I had quite a restless night &...
I love pictures. The paper ones, mostly . . . the kind that end up in photo albums or in frames that you place in strategic places around the house, on walls or on coffee tables, so they catch your eye as you glance over at them while on your way to the kitchen or to relax in a quiet room. The electronic ones, stored on a computer or on a phone, are nice but give me the printed versions, any day, so I can stand at eye level, in front of them, or page through them, as if to play a movie of my life...
I have a recurrent liposarcoma (aka The Alien). I am starting palliative chemo with Doxorubicin. I had wanted to tell you about my preparations for chemo but my techie skills aren’t enough to force in some images I wanted to include into the Macmillan blogsite so that will have to wait. I am going to jump straight to chemo day.
Living in Norfolk means that a trip to the Marsden in London takes a bit of organising. Dog into care, train booked, B&B booked.
A kind friend drops us at the station...
Not too sure if anyone out there even reads half of what I post but writing a journal-like record of my thoughts and experiences is my form of “therapy”, I suppose. I’d like to think the things I’ve posted since my husband was diagnosed in 2018 have helped others more than it has irritated. This site has helped me work through so much and I bless the day I stumbled onto it. So thank you to those who have reached out to me over this past year and a half or so and those who have since. I wish I had...
I swear, if one more medical professional says something along the lines of the title of this to me, then I may just open my mouth and scream at them long and hard.
So, I've always been bigger than my peers both in height and width. Looking back at pictures of me, it's mostly my build that does it as I am 5' 10", with a 63cm circumference head, and really broad shoulders. I always felt bigger than everyone I was in class with, and of course the kids at school liked to call me fat - and I believed...
Debbie, our wonderful 'chef to ostomates' is back today with not one, but two delicious spaghetti recipes. All of Debbie’s recipes are, of course, designed with Ostomates in mind and in case you’ve missed any of her recipes to date, you can find them all in our Ileostomy, colostomy and stoma support group here. So why not put an apron on and get cooking!
Enjoy…
Here are two recipes with pasta, a failsafe for me when I need to thicken my stoma output. I love to have mushrooms...
