    The First Aid Course
I'm so very sorry, my friends. I'm having a really black evening for some reason. I've been writing for an hour or so and just binned it all because I wasn't happy with it. Can't blame chemo-brain - can't even blame booze - I'm just a bit down. No - I'm a lot down! However - like Tigger - I'll bounce back. Soon, I hope. Thank you all for the fantastic comments on the recent blogs - I love writing and I love entertaining you. I just cannot do you all justice right now. Much love Steve xx ...

    Hump Day
Today was Hump Day. Not that I was asked to feed the camels at work. They wouldn’t trust me to do it, even if we had any. It’s just ….. well, Wednesday is the hump of the week, isn’t it? Just a normal scabby day, really. Not much to interest anyone, unless you happen to like maintaining old cottages and farm buildings – that’s what I do to make the days pass. I work for two rural landowners and look after all their buildings; 154 cottages, 6 working farms and three Grade 1 listed stately homes...

    my mum
I have only done one blog before and that was to change my name.... This is far far more important, many of you in here that I have had the pleasure of meeting will know my story and your help and support has been amazing for me. Mum has been through so much and has had two major operations. One on the 16th December and the other one on 15th May. The results came back today so it has been one heck of a morning waiting for the phone to ring...when it did I just looked for a few seconds before answering...

    Hi All
I joined the site a month or so ago but hadn't liked to post as I felt a bit shy but am having a bad day and I know how much support there is on this site. My darling nephew (11yrs old) was diagnosed last July with Synovial Sarcoma (or growing pains as the first locum gp said). He had a bit of a sore leg - doctor, x-ray - nothing showed up. Then referred to our children's hospital where the ultrasound detected a large mass at the top of his thigh. Then on to Birmingham for a biopsy and diagnosis...

You Couldn’t Make it Up – Part 2
After yesterday’s long epistle, I thought I would leave the actual clinic story until today. Give you all a bit of breathing (and in Carolannt’s case, peeing) space, as it were. The clinic was quite bland compared with the journey up there but – as befits a great National Health Hospital – Salisbury could still spring a few surprises. Marly asked about parking at SDH (Salisbury District Hospital) and was surprised when I found a parking space so easily. The reason is that there are acres of parking...

    Home after surgery
I'm home after a hysterectomy. They couldnt save my fertility but I am glad now that they have hopefully removed all the cancer. I get my results of the lymph nodes and margins on Friday and get to have my catheter out! It was pretty awful surgery (key hole is great in the long run but the short term wind pain if awful). I am not sure how I got through the 1st 24 hrs but I did and I was allowed home after 48 hrs (stubborness). Today - 5 days after surgery - I am finally feeling a bit better. Less...

    My son
I want to say thank you to everybody who read my blog and took the trouble to comment. It helps - it definitely does. My husband, my mum and I have been round their flat today, as they are moving on Saturday to a new flat, and we are helping them clean, etc. Doing something practical for him really helps - so I stopped at Tesco's on the way and bought them good, healthy food so he can build himself up. He's like a beanpole. You may think 'why isn't his wife doing that?' Well, it's complicated. He...

light at the end of the tunnel?
I havent been on this site long but have read so many interesting, heartwarming, happy and sad stories that I felt the need to add mine.I was dx with bc in 2007, 22nd October the day after my eldest daughters 20th birthday. The only other person who knew I had bc was my friend Janice who came with me and sat through all my tests and was with me when the doc and breast care nurse broke the news ( I felt so sorry for her she went to pieces). Then it was home to break the news to everyone my 11 yr old...

    Starting orders....
Just a quick update this time. My wound is almost healed (it has only taken 3 months since the 2nd op!) My Portacath is being fitted on Thursday afternoon (but they haven't told me whether it is a local or general anaesthetic they will be using!!!) My chemo will start (probably) on Monday at 11am, possibly Tuesday but definitely next week! They were going to start me this Friday but because that would mean I'd most likely be sick on the weekend when the kids are pretty full on and would most...
